Fermanagh v Cavan

Couldn't agree more Hurricanefly. Saw him a few times this year and he's playing some great stuff. Think he would give Givney a bit more support in middle than O'Reilly. Good at fielding a ball. Would personally play Reilly at half back or half forward and falling back. Hon the lads....

best of luck to the lads... keep the discipline and empty the bench because some of the fermanagh lads that are just back might not be able to go the full distance.. going to tight... us by a point 1-10 to 12

Best of luck to Terry and the lads tomorrow. They shouldn't need any motivation for a few reasons.

1. Before the Armagh game, all the talk in the media was about how much Jamie Clarke would score against us. After the game all the talk was about how rubbish the Armagh management were. Not a bit of credit given our way, no respect shown. Maybe if we win two on the trot people will give us a bit more credit.

2. Fermanagh's tactics in the league game. No elaboration needed.

3. It's a local derby. We haven't won back to back Ulster games since 2001. Appalling record that has to change some time right??

4. Brewster Park has been kind to Jack Brady, Fergal Flanagan, Killian Clarke, Jason McLoughlin and Conor Gilsenan.

Hoping to get a good crowd along. Come on Cavan! Breifne Abú!!

Have to agree with you Seargent!!

Listening to all the PUNDITS all week they all fancy Fermanagh which is great to see!!. As you said not a bit of praise for the efforts of a "very young team" in beating Armagh. All the talk has been how bad Armagh were etc. And I really smiled when I read journalist Malachy Clerkins comments this morning in the Irish Times. He finished by saying " Cavan are young and they have their tails up on the back of a pretty false result" Begrudgery if ever I heard it!! Obviously another journalist that has very little time for us, but I suspect with a name like that he may be from close to our northern borders.

Anyway best of luck to Terry and all the lads. We are all behind ye and G8 or no G8 we will be there. This young team has brought pride back to Cavan football and very soon people will start appreciating what ye have done.
Come on the Breffni Blues!!!

as a fermanagh man i dont think cavan have been the credit they deserve for beating armagh although i do think cavan were afforded too much space by the armagh defence and i doubt that fermanagh will give them anywhere near as much space,at least i hope not, with all that said i think its gonna be a very tight derby game and i hope that our cavan neighbours travel in big numbers and show the world that g8 is knowhere near as important as an ulster championship derby match.safe journey lads. fermanagh abu

Good luck to the lads today. Match them for work rate and the better players will win out and I believe we have the better players.

Can't call this one. Although given lots of space against the Armagh backs, the Cavan forwards will still pose a massive threat. Dunne could be double-teamed so expect others to shine. Fermanagh very defensive but can still take their scores when presented. Both teams have the finess and pace so it should be a good, fast game throughout. Good luck to both teams. I'll say a draw.

Well done lads, solid if not spectacular win today against the most defensive outfit imaginable. Thought our intensity, tackling and work rate were superb, particularly in the first half, we held Fermanagh scoreless for the first 25 minutes. Defensively we were solid, but we found opportunities up front very limited. Midfield will have to be sorted before the Monaghan game, but on the plus side at least Mossy Corr was fit to make an appearance, hopefully we'll get him match fit in time. One thing I'll say about the team as a whole, I was 99% sure we were going to capitulate when Fermanagh drew level, but we managed to drive on and salvage a win, something Cavan teams in the past would not have done. And for that, I tip my hat in the direction of Terry Hyland and his management team.

Standout performance came from man of the match Cian Mackey. Only for him in the first half down that right hand side Fermanagh would have walked through us repeatedly. He got in countless hits and dispossessions. Well done to him, deserves the MOTM award.

I was pleased with our fitness towards the end as well, young McLoughlin has a great amount of energy and got forward well when he could. Rory Dunne did well in the last few seconds when Fermanagh lobbed in a few high ones in search of a goal. Martin Reilly gave us a bit of cutting edge up front when he came on, was awful unlucky with a few shots from tight angles which dropped short. Niall McDermott also worthy of a mention, showed for the ball all day and did a serious amount of tackling back which we badly needed. Keating was also good, perhaps we underused him in the first half, but he dragged us out of our lull in the second half with a crucial score with his right foot on the run. We did well to kick on from there.

Now we've a cracking semi-final with the neighbours to look forward to. Bring it on.

Sergeant_Slash i would have to agree with your thoughts there...

Felt sorry for McKiernan, fouled the ball a couple of times and a couple of wides but you will have those day. He looked fit and still the type of lad to spring from the bench. but a least the management made the quick decision again.
I thought we were a little wasteful a couple of times today and probably needed just a little bit more patience. Though fermanagh tired badly and had nothing left in the tank even with all the substitutions. I know Mackey had a great first half but he tired a little in the second which was quite similar to the Armagh game. I though Alan Clarke had a savage game. We were just that bit better up front in getting the scores even though we had a fair few wides
