Cork v Cavan U21

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

great game. both teams had the ability to open up the backs with pacey clever football. cork were very good at getting men back but cavan had the sense to hold the ball up when needed and not kick aimless balls. the cork forwards are a great outfit. they make every back line look slugish and lazy, but cavan never gave up in the tackle, every man was hungry for that ball when it a cork man had possession. contrasting styles that gave a great game.
i think the stand out difference between the teams was mistakes. cork were more professional. less mistakes made in possession. if they lost the ball it was from fierce tackling by cavan. cavan just made one to many mistakes on the ball. you cant fault men for mistakes, but it was the difference on the day.
i think flanagan was quite. i know argue and shankey were also, but would have expected more from flanagan than argue and shankey. but he has led very well over the 3 years.
But, despite my slightly negative comments, we showed great character, attitude and belief that will hopefully become a formidable characteristic in cavan football.

Saw Paul Graham playing well for the Gaels on Sunday and I heard Flanagan togged out for the Bridge too, great to see that kind of commitment from lads so soon after a massive disappointment, Any more of the Cavan lads playing Sunday?
