County minors

If their performances throughout that ulster league is anything to go by they will be hammered thats for sure.
On the positive side I notice Dermot McCabe seems to be spending a lot of time with them since their last match.
It will be a very hard ask for this panel to turn around their performances from that last four months.
True what poster says about players with injuries over the league but miraculous recovers come championship time.
Management are gullible and need to wise up toi these players but will they never here in Cavan.
Early exit sadly and you can say the same for the senior two defeats in less than three weeks time will be hard for Cavan supporters to take.
It will be four more years of the same.

I see our friend is as optimistic as ever. Crikey the Cavan minor and Senior players would love to have you as a motivator!!! Do you not give us any chance at all against Armagh? "It will be four more years of the same" - why do you think that? Are you not aware of the great work we have done over the last 4 years or so at minor and u21 will start paying dividents?
It is sad to see such negativity and jealousy being spouted out by a "so called Cavan supporter"

I am optimistic that May 19th could be a very happy day to be a Cavan man. At last we have thrown off this inferiority complex that has hung over us for the last 20 years or so. Over these years the sight of a Tyrone or Armagh jersey would fill us with terror. Not any more!
Our young lads know that we are every bit as good if not better than anybody else.
Yes the loss of big Gearoid Mc Kiernan is a massive hit but it is a huge chance for somebody else to step up to the plate. David Givney is rated as one of the best midfielders in Ireland according to Joe Kernan and with lads like Killian Clarke, Tom Corr and John McCutcheon we do have cover. Also reading about Ray Cullivan , could he be a late recall? Big strong lad and great fielder!!
So we should be optimistic approaching the 19th. Support Terry and the lads.

Same as on Cavan armagh thread, most posters seem to be former county failures from "the good old days" ready to knock the current crop and seem to be experts in everything. I see minors played Tipp in a challenge recently and only got beaten by a few scores! Considering Tipp had already won in champ and are by the way, in munster final again!! maybe our minors arent as useless as some would say. And could all the former county stars stop posting their personal gripes about been overlooked in favour of youth and about their disappointing county careers we dont care MOVE ON support the current team!

Whens the team being named? What's it likely to be?

No team named yet it seems. I don't think a team is being chosen until tonight or maybe even tomorrow evening. From what I've heard from people involved in the club scene around the county, the management will have a lot to answer for if the team selection is wrong considering how young of a squad they have apparently selected. Can't understand the negativity surrounding the minors and seniors though. Stop the nonsense and get out on Sunday and support both teams.

The only things that would disappoint me in the seniors would be lack of effort (which, to be fair, is never an issue) or a clear game-plan (not just give the ball to Keating) but I don't think either of these things will be a problem this year.

The only thing that would disappoint me in the minor will be if the team is too weak and gets overpowered by Armagh. This would be nearly unforgivable for the management as they have (or so I've heard) selected a very young squad this year and have overlooked older players in their last year of minor (some of which play senior club football) in favour of younger players. If this is the case and the team is physically too weak, it will make the management look very foolish.

As for the talk of either of our teams "getting hammered" , you'd be better of leaving that kind of attitude at home on Sunday and maybe stay there yourself as well if you're not going to get behind both teams and give them your full support.

The county minors were an unknown and unmentioned outfit when they won the Ulster championship in 2011 .The winning outfit had a few players underage again in 2012 but when there were great expectations in 2012 the team failed miserably in Breffni last summer. It is best for minors if there is very little focus on them as a lot of players fool themselves in to thinking that they are superstars or in the case of other players they worry themselves sick with nerves and cannot perform on the big day.The team picked for tomorrow has received very little attention and I think this is good management .Also out of starting team there are only about 4/5 underage again in 2014. The team tomorrow has savage power in midfield but hasn't great mobility. The halfback line has great pace but I really worry for the fullback line. The team has three or so really good forwards also but overall at minor level it is impossible to judge as teams during the league are only very experimental. All that really matters is that they go on to play senior club football and that a couple of them might eventually make senior county players as very few county minors in Cavan and every other county ever make it to senior and indeed some cannot even make it to senior club level.

The midfielders really impressed me yesterday, thought they did very well. Most of the backs were solid but I do not believe the all the forwards are good enough to win ulster with! Also the size of the lads on the bench would make no difference on a game if they were brought on against someone like moneghan ! But overall there doing well keep up the good work!
