I hear Givney is in the states on holidays and Mountnugent have lost 5 players to emigration. So without David and the loss of the players to other countries it doesnt look good.
Will gaels be restricted to those who played div 2 all year or will they ambush Mountnugent with everyone outside their top 12 of their senior team?

Michael Lyng played in a couple of Division 2 games earlier in the year asaik. He would probably feature if needed.

Anyone know how the div 2 relegation game went? Was givney playin or had the gaels many seniors on the team?

Back in Mullahoran again yesterday - Well done Mountnugent for retaining their Div 2 status by beating Gaels yesterday.
No Givney as he is still on holidays. Gaels fielded a very strong team but fair play to the Mountnugent lads who out performed them and should have been out of sight by half time.
Stephen Smith had Lyng in his pocket and when he was moved to corner forward Ronan Kearney did like wise. Ciaran Caffrey was impressive in the middle and Mark Rehill on the wing. Raymond Finnegan was haring around and the backs were very solid.

Well done Mountnugent - I'm looking forward to playing Gaels in Div 3 next year as I'm sure are are a lot of clubs

How much did you pay in this time DeRoyals? Sounds like the Gaels came prepared if Lyng was playing. Good result for Mountnugent especially with Givney missing. Gaels appear to be losing their stranglehold on Gaelic football in Cavan with their both their first and second team failing to perform this year. They obviously don't have the strength in depth they once had.

Gaels still have by far and away the best squad of players in the county. Not preforming in both leagues and championships is not to do with the quality but to do with internal club issues, egos and as seanorinn pointed out dominant families and hangers on around the senior team.

They must have read the posts as they reduced the price to €8 this time ha ha -
Have to say it was a very enjoyable game despite the under foot conditions. Mountnugent were fired up for this one and the fact that they did it without Givney was a big bonus and should give them confidence for next year. I'm not familiar with the gaels players but was told they had five of their senior team playing including Lyng.

Best of luck to cavan next year. Knowing a lot of the lads on the Meath border i have personal interest.

The gaels might be in a division 1a final but if they classify finishing 3rd in the league (losing 6 games) and losing the championship final as a succesful year then their standards have definitely fallen. Add to that their 2nd team has been relegated and were knocked out early in the intermediate championship. I'd say their stranglehold has definitely loosened.

Great comeback by the Gaels lastnite.6 points down at half time.they would have won only for the ref played no injury time.disgraceful scenes after 7 mins which was handled badly by officals.flanagan should have seen red.Gaels showed great hunger in 2nd half.casterahan were out on there going in at half time.

Free for all and only two walk, wise up it would have been better if 6 or 8 walked.

I thought Flannagan got a RED did he not.

Come back by the gales had nothing to do with anything other than Mackey was finished with twenty five minuets and stood idle for that period of time and Castlehahan tried to live on the 6 points lead by bringing back 12 players stupid tactics my management,
I will say this and I am not a gales fan if Reilly played two minuets extra time the gales would have won its that simple.
You must be very pleased with the exile he scored some very good points under pressure so you should thank him for what he did for you.
As a fan of Eamonn Reilly I was very pleased for him to have another chance for he is one decent strong honest committed footballer.

Went in especially to see SJ in the league final and was well surprised with how well he played. Terry is seriously going to have to decide whether SJ has a future because he clearly still had the ability . Seems like he is been over looked for his sins of the past as he is still without doubt a top scoring forward. Time for everyone including SJ to let bygones be bygones and return for the betterment of Cavan football . He is still needed . And anybody who thinks otherwise is deluded. He clearly is good enough.

Why he did nothing until Mackey was exhausted he wasted a lot of chances scored a couple of important points ok but why should Mr Hyland consider him he took the option to move to Kildare and he could not get starting with the first 15 so not good enough??? so why should he be good enough for Cavan.
Did he play against Ballinagh I think he did well he was on the team list ???
I am sure Mr Hyland will decide in his own time ???????? bad enough taking two steps back all ready but two more do Cavan need this disruption having established what most of you say an established team ?????

Sean o Rinn apart from Dunnie we haven't a decent forward fit to score regularly from play from the corner positions. Now that's a fact just you look back at our scoters and scoring averages in what was suppose to be a successful year. Check out what SJ scored in his few games in div1 and compare it to what our forwards scored from play. Have a look before u make statements like u just made.
