Yeah, Cavan Juniors beat Kildare to win the Leinster Junior Championship last summer, 3rd Leinster Junior Championship in a row. That has nothing to do with the 3g pitch in Breffni, all of Cavan's Leinster Junior Championship games are played in Leinster, as Cavan can't have home games being based in Ulster.

So the poster does have a point about the 3g pitch.

This is what I am trying to say the reason they the U21 teamplayed on the main pitch was because they are not involved in it this year but going back to Mr Hyland 90% of they're training was done on the 3G am I not explaining how it was and how it should be when you cannot get a natural ground to train on you use the 3G its that simple. Why not pop in night after night 7 nights and day's a week and see who are using the 3G not just children let me tell you.

Sean, what are the u21's not involved in? They Never played in a Leinster League before. Hastings Cup is played every Januray and that is what they play in,

My reply was to those who have an issue with the 3G I quoted teams that all trained on the 3G with no major issues and went on to achieve, This is what I am trying to say. When no other pitch is available most are very happy to use the 3G for training or for matches this is what I am saying so it has its benefits and it showed last week against Monaghan how fit our lads were in very trying conditions of the weather and softness of the main pitch after doing most of their training on the 3G.

Maybe its the 3G pitch!! Only joking Sean. I think a much bigger problem is player burn out particularly the good players as they are wanted by everybody. Minor, u21, Club minor and adult, colleges, etc.
And here in Dublin it is even worse with the Dual players. Players are being totally overplayed without any care for the lads themselves. We have to look after our young players particularly in the 16 to 21 age group.
Just looking for instance at David Givney next w/end he is playing in the Sigerson Fri/ Sat , Railway cup on Sun not to mention the calls from his club and county. The lad hasent even time to train!!!
Anyway best of luck to all our Breffni men in the Sigerson and Railway Cups.

I do agree that good players are playing way to much football hardly any break. With groin injury you must give it complete rest at least 6-10 week & a lot of clubs dont do a proper cool down after games. On the 3g issue its a great facility to have & with the state of some of the pitches around the county its a better option.

Sammaguire1 bout the groin injuries,i tore my groin 4 times between the ages of 16 and 20and was told by the surgeon that players round this age are more lilky to get this type of injury from kicking round the ball all the time(using the inside of your foot) as its the way most kids start kickin the ball as a child cause its easier than punt kicking, lads at this age can end up playin 5 games aweek!he said if they dont suffer from burnout this is the nxt most common injury.the weight of an o neills ball also plays apart too.....

To this weeks games,Mullahoran to beat Lavey by a good few,Castlerahan v Kingscourt will be close but the home team should pull through in fortress BJD.Denn v Cuchulainns cant see anyone winning this 0-0 draw,Lacken v Ramor Ramor if they have jack Brady playing after a day in Athlone.Ballinagh v the Gaels,Ballinagh will win this ,the gaels are set up too defensive under joe o connor, they also pull and foul a lot.

the same thing is said every year, there is probably 3 teams apart from the Gaels who can win the Championship this year, Ballinagh Mullahourn and Kingscourt.

I'd put ramor and castlerahan into that list too. Makes for an interesting year.

Was there a big variance in the weather over the weekend that so many matches were called off or what was the reason that matches could take place in Shannon Gaels, Arva, Drumalee and Killenkere and many others were called off.
Have a lot of clubs very wet pitches?

Breffnisbest: Majority of pitches wet but I would also say some clubs took advantage of the weather as an excuse not to play as County players were not available.

There is a good group of cavan, monaghan and leitrim lads now training together in Dublin in the Phoenix Park.
They have a good trainer and look well organised.
Every Tuesday and Thursday 7.30 to 9.00

Are this weekend's League games going ahead? I find it a joke that all these games are being called off, and then everyone is giving out later in the year when all these games have to be played. Just play the games!

I think you'll find that the majority of the players don't make the decision to call off the games

Obviously enough. But my point is, all clubs then give out that the League's are never finished until October/November and this is the reason why. I just think something should be done about it to avoid playing so late in the year!
