Hahaha. Jesus. I can see an objection being made regarding that referee's appointment.

It's both amusing and depressing at the same time, this predictable tirade against the referees, blaming them for every defeat thus convienently finding an excuse which doesn't involve analysing your own shortcomings.

Cavan Gaels would be better off looking at themselves, the attitude they approached the game with and some poor decision making both on and off the field to find the reason they were beaten by a team they should realistically be putting away by 5 or 6 points.

As for Ballinagh they should be asking themselves how instead of kicking on from last year and being genuine contenders, they have regressed to the point of being outplayed and outfought by an ageing Mullahoran team they comfortably beat last year.

Ageing??? This is one of the youngest Mullahoran sides in years. Ok, Eamonn Reilly, Christy Sheils and Seanie Smith are no spring chickens, but you had a lot of guys who are under 21 on the field - Killian Brady, Michael Brady, and then Enda Reilly and Raymond Lynch who came on as subs. Others like Dermot Sheridan, Paddy Brady and PP Galligan are in their mid-twenties. Mad Eddie and Paul Brady are in their early thirties. People diss Mullahoran but they have a very nice blend of experience and youth and guys in between too.

Ballinagh water boy was a disgrace and the linesman did nothing. The Gaels should move on yes you were done out of a goal and point but the best thing the club could do is to deal with the people who repeatly let you down when decisions go against you and damage the clubs reputation. We're the refs accessed this weekend?
evano11 , 03/09/2012 at 11:42

The referee removed the water boy from the side line also took his name so your post is in incorrect

Sean the ballinagh goal was just before half time so the game was hardly over seeing as it put them into the lead! all im trying to say is, if a player doesnt perform well, whether the team win or lose, he is slated for his performance! therefor then same should go for a referee should it not? i do not think brian referee's any more, i have not seen him ref this year or even last!

Yes sorry my mistake

Killygarry were three down and picked up 2/3 frees to get nose in front
.............................
this i dont understand! 3 down, scored 2 or 3 points and then were ahead?!

Its also possible to score from open play. A bit like a drop-goal in rugby if thats a sport you are more familiar with.

Steady on Loughduff lad, all those lads were playing last year, now they are a year older, thus ageing.

Any team with 2 players in their late 30's, and 3 or 4 more over 30* can hardly be classed as young.

Sean the ref took his name near the end for getting involved with one of the mullahoran players. What I wrote was the linesman did nothing up to that point . He was constantly on the pitch, putting pressure on the linesman for decisions and then he also tried to head butt the mullahoran water boy. The linesman allowed this to go on before the ref got involved. At the stage he took his name he had seen it himself nothing to do with the linesman bringing his attention to it.

I see what you are saying and I understand in fact if you are referring to the attempted head butt well it was another Maor Eisce from the same club and he was not removed at all. ???

The asterisk in my last post related to a footnote saying I wasn't sure if Philip Brady was over or under 30.
Seems to have got snipped for some reason.

Well by that logic Godhimself, every team is ageing seeing as everyone is getting older all the time. What I'm saying is that it's disingenuous to say that Mullahoran are an ageing team, as if they are all in their late thirties and are held together with bandages. Some of those younger guys like Killian Brady weren't starting all the time last year and they have come into the team this year in place of guys like Darren O'Reilly and Ciaran Sheils who started in the defeat to Ballinagh in the quarters last year. Guys like Little Danny Brady have also retired so you automatically have a younger team when you take older guys out and add in significantly younger guys.

No Loughduff, every team is not ageing, if you replace older guys with younger guys the average age comes down.
I was thinking this was basically the same Mullahoran team as last year, but as you point out Danny retiring definitely reduces the average age, you have to admit they do have some ageing players, by my estimation 5 of the starting fifteen are 34 or over, that's one third of the team, and I would wager more than any other senior team.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not having a go at Mullahoran, I am actually a great admirer of the dedication of these older players who keep coming back year after year, putting in the big effort, they are a credit and every club would love to have them, my original point was just that Ballinagh, a supposedly up and coming team, should be looking at themselves, not crying about refereeing decisions which had no bearing on the fact that they were outplayed on the day by a team they easily beat last year.

SFC Disaster for Cavan Gaels

Cavan gaels suffered a disasterous defeat at the hands of Killgarry at the weekend. A team that has contested 13 of the last Senior finals winning ten are out of the championship.

What about the semi finals? My prediction is

Kingscourt v Castlerahen - Should be a good game both side have forwards who can score a lot, i reckon Kingscourt are the overall better team and will win by 4 points

Mullahourn v Killygarry - Killygarry will be full of confidence after beating the Gaels and there is no reason they cant go on and win this match too but i think Mullahourn will come out on top in the game there playing good stuff at the minute and wont underestimate Killygarry which is what the Gaels might have done, it will be close like it was when they met earlier in the championship but Mullahourn will win b 2 points

If Mullahorn perform as they did yesterday I would not write off Killygarry. Not sure about Castlerahan or Kingscourt my prediction a draw so a replay on the cards.

would like to see a Killygarry v Castlerahen final. Who know it very well could be. Not much between all the teams.
