Typo lads, meant to say unprecedented in terms of commentating his own club at a county final

ok lifebuoy point taken, but i still don't understand why you would find it bizarre or unprecedented for Donal to be commentating on his own club's video. remember this is not from RTE or TG4 or TV3 or BBc, or northern sound, this is Kingscourt Stars club video of which Donal was a member in 1990, he wasn't even a referee then , he was probably only early to mid twenties .

just tried a bit of research to see if I could find out the score of the 1990 senior final. nothing on the cavangaa website. (the roll of honour only goes up to 1961) and there is no scores given. nothing on hogan stand (though they do have the winners up-to-date but no scores. nothing on the kingscourt website (though there is lots of interesting stuff)... anywhere else where the actual results of past county finals might be documented... surely they must be somewhere.

number 15 (glenn mc cormack actually went on to play in goals for cavan for a while. his brother Brendan was the sub goalie in the 1997 ulster final. and he also played in goals for kingscourt against the gaels in the 2010 final. Michael and Pat faulkner,Jim Reilly,joe Dillon, barry Mcardle all played regularly for Cavan. gary Wynne was a roscommon county player. joe Mccaul and Maurice Rowentree were good enough to play for the county. as were a few of the others. that was a bad day at the office in the ulster final, but they did great to get there defeating some good teams on the way. Lavey went on to win the all-ireland on a few occassions I believe.

When you read the two teams (given kingscourt with their county players) even mullahoran looked strong. Thats a serious full back line for kingscourt. Even watching the video on youtube it looked like the old head Gerry Sheridan came on as a sub for mullahoran. Anyone get the feeling that the standard is completely different (not as good) nowadays. Alot of these would have played for Cavan on the team that drew with Donegal when they last won SAM...

Would it have been better to have the Senior Final @ 1 where it would be over at 2.15 and Cup Presented at 2.30 rather than 1.45 when it will be over at 3.00 and Cup presented @ 3.15

There are many parts of Cavan where people will not be home in time to see the hurling it could even be Half Time.

I never said there would be extra time.. I am alllocating 15/20 mins from the end of the match for supporters to embrace their loved ones, and then the presentation of the cup. When all is finished up be close to 1.30.

You're right Ponger.....even though Cavan football was having a poor time in Ulster, these two teams (Kingscourt/Mullahoran) were serious outfits. I know Lavey won well in Ulster final but the scoreline doesn't tell a tale. Remember it well - and the county final. Both were clser than the stats suggest. P Faulkner milled The Gunner in the first minute, end of game. Amazing that the Stars' side of that era never won an Ulster.The 1992 game vs Donegal was a classic. Damien's impossible point, 5 Mullahoran men that day, 3 Gowna, 3 Kingscourt. Good times!
