The CCC are currently making arrangements for the 2012 Minor Football Championships and wish to bring the following matters to your attention.

Timing
Under the 2012 Master Fixtures Plan, it is proposed that the initial Minor Championships rounds be played in the month of August, with the quarter-finals, semi-finals and finals played in tandem with the Senior, Intermediate and Junior Championships, with the aim of having all Championships completed by late September / early October.

Structure
The County Commission report which was adopted and approved by the County Committee last Autumn, makes the following proposals for the structure of the Minor Championship.

(xvi) The Minor Championship should consist of two competitions, an 'A' championship (for all teams in the first Division, plus any 'group' teams, which elect to play in it) and a 'B' championship for clubs in the second Division, with clubs in the third Division of the league having the option of competing in the 'B' championship in their own right, or, with the permission of the County Committee (or any committee under its jurisdiction), forming a group team with another club from that division to compete in the 'B' championship, or combining with two other clubs from that division, to compete in the 'A' championship;

(xvii) Both the 'A' and the 'B' minor championships should include provision for a 'back-door' system for first round losers

We propose to implement this structure for the 2012 Minor Championships, ie an 'A' Championship and a B Championship, on the above lines. While we intend to include a 'back-door' system in both A & B Championships, we have yet to make a final decision on this, and this is subject in the meantime to the fixtures situation etc.

Amalgamations
Clubs who wish to form amalgamations for this year's Minor Championship are requested to submit their applications in writing to the County Secretary by Monday 2 July.

All applications by clubs will be subject initially to review by a CCC sub-committee, and then must be approved by the CCC and then ratified by the clubs at a County Committee meeting

The minor championship is becoming a joke... It seems anyone can amalgamate now.. Like St finbars should never be allowed join with laragh.. St finbars are already a strong div 1 team... the whole lot has become an absolute joke.. people are laughing at it... FACT

st finbars are hardly a strong div 1 team when they were close to being relegated st finbars have only about 17 of a squad good for both clubs to join

St.finbarrs struggled with injurys and players missing all year and will continue to so over summer,never lost by more than 3 to anyone, a nearly team if anything

St Finbarrs lost to O Raghaillaigh by 3 and drew with joes. Theyd be as well trying to get their act together and winning it rather taking the easy option and joining with Laragh.

Mullahoran are flying solo 4da championship!! ,, is der any1 else brave enough to go alone or is every1 mad 4da glory and sacrifice the "middling" players come senior level,,due to getting disheartened?? In my opinion these amalgamations will ruin teams,,especially Rural ones in the long run!!

The senior board or the CCC have enough to look after in their own competition and are under huge pressure. The minor board should be reinstated to look after minor & u-16
