Drung and mountnugent was a draw 1-05 to 8 points not 1-8 to 10 so that leaves drung on 9 points not 10 Dud_Gfc (Cavan) - Posts: 30 - 30/04/2012 13:33:21 1163156 Link 0 |

i notice in some quarters that the results in div 2 feature a team called Droichead Ui Dhalaigh. Now in my limited irish i would translate that as Daly's bridge. So is this a new team that have entered the fray. Who was Mr or Mrs Daly and where is this Bridge. s goldrick (Cavan) - Posts: 5524 - 09/05/2012 08:53:36 1168281 Link 0 |

No it doesn't. A red card in club games means suspension in club games only and a red card in county games means suspension in county games only. Same applies to school and college football. Of this I am fully sure. What was the red for does anybody know? Bananas (Cavan) - Posts: 73 - 28/05/2012 18:16:52 1182213 Link 0 |

from what i can gather Dalys bridge was the original name for Mountnugent. The bridge entering the village from the kilnaleck side was named after Bishop Daly. In the lat 1800's a wealthy family called Nugent renamed the area. Thats why the sign post says Mountnugent, and the Irish is Droiceah Ui Dalaigh. Actually found this information in an old year book... StirringIt (Cavan) - Posts: 374 - 29/05/2012 09:34:45 1182508 Link 0 |

whats the story with shannon gaels this season, have they lost players or is it due to exams at the moment cavan4ever (Cavan) - Posts: 234 - 29/05/2012 14:13:16 1182815 Link 0 |

A work colleague of mine is involved with Shannon Gaels. According to him they have lost 14 players from last year. Only 3 of their starting champ team from 2011 remain. If this is true then that is a serious loss to any club never mind a junior club. According to him young OHara and O donnnell are also heading stateside within next week or so. They have only one player based at home, have 18 students (6 leaving certs) from a panel of 20 players. Also one of their leaving cert lads got a serious concussion early on in the year which has resulted in him not sitting leaving cert this year. This had a huge effect on other students and as a result they have not been able to field teams recently. cavanforsam (Cavan) - Posts: 143 - 29/05/2012 20:10:00 1183190 Link 0 |
