Underage finals on the 3G

Underage finals on the 3G
The 3G pitch is excellent for under-age football. It gives a 100% true bounce and allows for free-flowing games. The kids than may get hurt on the 3G pitch will get knocks on grass, too. As for free-taking off the ground? It's a skill to be practised and any shortcomings seem to be down to that as opposed to the pitch.

True bounce??? How, it is on an artificial surface? It cannot therefore give a true bounce. As for of ground frees, well the grass is used to sit ball up on something that cannot be done on a 3G. And a 3G pitch causes more hamstring injuries as well as muscle because of harder surface. The real reason the 3G is being forced on teams is because the County Board need to justify its existince and expense. How dare the CCC say teams have to play on it if requested. It is artificial and does not replicate real conditions even nearly. Play some of senior quarters on it and see what reaction you get. Everyone should get the chance to play in Breffni.

Just in case you don't know it, the 3G has been used for 3 Hasting cup matches, one McKenna cup fixture this year and several challenge matches so it would seem that it has its benefits

Yeah Sean Mc Kenna cup in Winter and the challenge against Dublin was to open it. Still not justifying it.

all under age finals should be played on the main field they are the future. in 5-6 years they be playing for cavan and were will that game be played.
After watching the games on tue I though most players were slower toeing up the ball because the ball will roll away longer on the astro.
It is not the same as real grass how could it be, surface is harder and grass mostly short.

ps.It is every player dream to play on breffni, treat the under age right. they are the future Every parent/supporter should go to there clubs AGM and get it changed at county board level.I think the astro pitch is a great idea but not for training/or playing under age games. astro to be used when there is a backlog of senior games in wet weather
