A tough struggle between Ballyhaise and Swanlinbar last night. Ballyhaise pulled off the victory against the odds but they will have to improve to progress.

Well done to Bailieboro Shamrocks today who confirmed there Intermediate Status for next year. Beat Laragh easily in the end. The score was 2.12 to 0.7. Bailieboro played them off the park in every position and deserved the victory. Hopefully now they can stay in Div 2 for the league and bring this young team on next year.

Semi-Final Draw

Drumgoon/Kill v Knockbride/Killeshandra

Drung/Crosserlough v Ballyhaise

Opening up nicely for Killeshandra. They have the easier side of the draw.

Hi wishfulthinkin,
I wouldn't say proud, and it was a struggle, but i would say glad that the club still intermediate in the C'ship is a big plus.
Team was destroyed with injuries all year and also lost 5 first team players. Most of the games, be it league or C'ship, the team has been playing with a seriously understrength side. Alot of young players were brought in and did well and the experience can only be good for them.

You were not the only team in the county with injuries and forced to play young players, or maybe im wrong were you ?

@BlueHeaven Judging by Killeshandras performance yesterday i wouldn't agree that its opening up nicely because Knockbride are a team thats very difficult to beat and the winners of the Drumgoon/Kill game will have come through a local derby and will more then fancy themselves to beat either Knockbride or Killeshandra on yesterdays performance. However i'd agree it is the easier side of the draw as Ballyhaise/Crosserlough should be winning the Intermediate this year but not ruling out Drung either if they managed to beat Crosserlough they would itch for a go at Ballyhaise so it could get interesting.

my semi predictions would be:
Kill vs Killeshandra
Ballyhaise vs Crosserlough (winners from this semi final)

@bigcavanman I agree that Killeshandra are not playing that well at the moment but the extra game will do them good and on paper they have the best team in the championship so for that reason I think it's falling into place for them.

Thats prob true.
how may teams lost around 5 players due to emigration and had on average 5 players injured most of the season? From that view its not easy to build a consistant team. I guess it shows good strength and depth to manage to hang on with such a young squad.

Lads no point in talking about players who are'nt around or injured every club in cavan football has lost players this year for various reasons. Ask any of the clubs
still in the championship everyone of them will have lost 4 or 5 and more players and just got on with it, and give the young players a chance. So lets not start filling the message board with ' if only we had this fella and the other fella'.

Killeshandra v Knockbride, Saturday night last, served up some atrocious football. If this is Intermediate standard, football is finished. It was dreadful

Very interesting semi's in the intermediate Drumgoon/Killeshandra is very hard to call, so is the other semi between Crosserlough/Ballyhaise. The four strongest team in the last four the way it should be. All four teams are good at the back,it'll be who's forward line gets going that will win. I'll go for Killeshandra and Crosserlough but just about and Replays should be expected here. The Lough to win the final by a point or two.
