I see the Galway pages discounting Cavan as a force for next weekends Minor Quarter Final. That probably suits Cavan's Minor squad. Cavan can take comfort in the fact that they have beaten the last 3 All Ireland Minor Champions en route to the Liam Murray Cup (Tyrone 2008 and 2010) and Armagh (2009).....as well as some small comfort in having beaten Galway in a run-out on the day of the U21 Final. I'll take honesty and hard work ahead of a favourites tag any day! shamrock10 (Cavan) - Posts: 41 - 23/07/2011 15:06:14 992804 Link 0 |

Hopefully a determined effort by the CB will be made to ensure that this year was not a flash in the pan, but the start of a new Cavan beginning. Well done to all involved with the minors, you gave us a real lift this year. Focus now on next year's U21's. Mol an oige... ondforty (Cavan) - Posts: 471 - 30/07/2011 18:38:36 998888 Link 0 |

We won a minor title for the first time in 37 years .. Great get over it.Yet again we cant perform on the National Stage.A poor Galway Team that were hammered in the Connact final got there act together at half time.. The Quiet Man (Cavan) - Posts: 4602 - 31/07/2011 12:33:48 999339 Link 0 |

Yes Sean o Rinn for once i agree with you..The impression i got was it was a bonus match in so far as we won the Minor title lets be happy about that regardless.. Galway learned more about us at the half time break that we learnt about ourselves.. Now thats a worry..Because if Management and players cant keep a little extra up their sleve instead of showing the full hand so early then we are always going to be ordinary... in all grades sheva7 (Cavan) - Posts: 498 - 31/07/2011 13:17:44 999414 Link 0 |

I was dragged along to the cavan minor game yesterday by the missus and 1 of her friends because the little brother was playing for cavan yesterday and from all the stuff ive heard on here i was expecting a team full of big physical players that can defend well and play good football.i was wrong-ye were crap and i mean crap-you had a big enough side for minorsd but basic skill levels were of a low standard, full back line was non existent.the number 6 was ok and 1 of the wing backs was too.up front it was like a throw back to the 80s boot it into the forwards and hope something happens.there was some young chap came on in the 2nd half that was easily as good as any other player on your team-how did he not start?ive followed some monaghan minors and tot we were in a bad place with poor teams but after seeing the cavan game yesterday i can honestly say were a level ahead with basic skills! smallballs (Monaghan) - Posts: 151 - 31/07/2011 20:09:32 1000098 Link 0 |

As I've said before on this forum, statistically you need to build on a number of years of winning minor/U21's to launch a successful senior campaign. We now have begun to produce winners at provisional level, which is a vital step. Forget about the seniors and put the investment in our emerging talent. Play the stats game and plan strategically for a shot at Sam in 5/6 years. Would you have settled for two Ulster titles this year? I would, provided it's only the start. What's with all the negativity? ondforty (Cavan) - Posts: 471 - 31/07/2011 20:43:02 1000159 Link 0 |
