I see the Galway pages discounting Cavan as a force for next weekends Minor Quarter Final. That probably suits Cavan's Minor squad. Cavan can take comfort in the fact that they have beaten the last 3 All Ireland Minor Champions en route to the Liam Murray Cup (Tyrone 2008 and 2010) and Armagh (2009).....as well as some small comfort in having beaten Galway in a run-out on the day of the U21 Final. I'll take honesty and hard work ahead of a favourites tag any day!

Cavanfan,
You post some very good stuff and I must say that ochonlir gent is a very noxious piece of venom.
As for Sean o Rinn as I said Sean put away the Val organ, you are only a mouth piece for Val and Terry fitting

Hopefully a determined effort by the CB will be made to ensure that this year was not a flash in the pan, but the start of a new Cavan beginning. Well done to all involved with the minors, you gave us a real lift this year. Focus now on next year's U21's. Mol an oige...

were you at this match today ??? if yes were you happy with the match overall.

I don't agree with you when you say concentrate on the U21 we must without exception now focus on our senior team we have to progress here and there must be no quarter given to get this success.

We won a minor title for the first time in 37 years .. Great get over it.. The Law of average says we were going to win one sooner or later..Yet again we cant perform on the National Stage.. A poor Galway Team that were hammered in the Connact final got there act together at half time..
We stood back and let them... yes stood back...
We lack the killer instint at all grades.. We have under 21s and Minors now who have Ulster medals and who need PROPER looking after from here in to make sure they dont fall by the wayside.. Yes we will lose playersto emigration BUT what is going to be done to keep the interest alive in the rest of the squads?

sheva I was at this match yesterday would you say it was management or players that were the reason we lost yesterday.

Did you see anything that was disturbing with this performance yesterday that reminds of day's gone by.

It was blatantly obvious what was going on yet nothing done about it?
Sean Moran Galway's power horse had a field day
Ian Burke had an easy day
I heard drive the ball into the square when it was as plain as the nose on our face they were not able to.
Instead of leaving Finnegan inside he should have been brought out he would have made a difference for sure.
What was wrong with our wings? back to the same old Cavan way again play up the middle its the only way? it is not the only way for if you were there yesterday you could see that the 13 meter line inwards was congested with bodies.
Back to the drawing board I think for there were too many issues to mention.
Its over now congratulations to the minors winning an Ulster title but please I ask you "minors" get down from the clouds for you will only be remembered for your last match and it was not good.

Yes Sean o Rinn for once i agree with you..The impression i got was it was a bonus match in so far as we won the Minor title lets be happy about that regardless.. Galway learned more about us at the half time break that we learnt about ourselves.. Now thats a worry..Because if Management and players cant keep a little extra up their sleve instead of showing the full hand so early then we are always going to be ordinary... in all grades

Yes we do agree for this is how it looked to me as well, what a shame. I really thought there would be more passion more thought more bottle put into this match, I was really disappointed, if this was the attitude and void of thought that I was expecting I would have stayed at home.
Some simple changes were needed but I could see nothing that was worth while.
They took off some players and left on players playing who were playing badly, there were other issues on that pitch yesterday that I will not discuss on this forum we were roasted in some areas and no real effort to change it, I am so disappointed the way things panned out. We had a minor team capable of going further this year but alas its over.
Subs
Coyle for Argue
Mulvanny for Dillon
Buchanan for McVeety
O'Donnell fot Dewart
Was there a fifth sub??

Seanorinn, comming away from that game yesterday left me totally deflated.
I cannot understand how the existing management left the team go to the final whistle knowing full well that the high ball into the forward line was not working.
I do know Sean that you a vast store of knowledge gathered from you time in Breffni park and as a rule you do nor deviate from the official line in respect of your 100% support for the Team manager but do you not fel that changes should have been made?

I was dragged along to the cavan minor game yesterday by the missus and 1 of her friends because the little brother was playing for cavan yesterday and from all the stuff ive heard on here i was expecting a team full of big physical players that can defend well and play good football.i was wrong-ye were crap and i mean crap-you had a big enough side for minorsd but basic skill levels were of a low standard, full back line was non existent.the number 6 was ok and 1 of the wing backs was too.up front it was like a throw back to the 80s boot it into the forwards and hope something happens.there was some young chap came on in the 2nd half that was easily as good as any other player on your team-how did he not start?ive followed some monaghan minors and tot we were in a bad place with poor teams but after seeing the cavan game yesterday i can honestly say were a level ahead with basic skills!

As I've said before on this forum, statistically you need to build on a number of years of winning minor/U21's to launch a successful senior campaign. We now have begun to produce winners at provisional level, which is a vital step. Forget about the seniors and put the investment in our emerging talent. Play the stats game and plan strategically for a shot at Sam in 5/6 years. Would you have settled for two Ulster titles this year? I would, provided it's only the start. What's with all the negativity?

Right explain how we build and forget about the Seniors at the same time ??? What do we do with our under21 that are not under21 next year?? Lock them in a drawer until we win another under21 title??? These guys have to be blooded into the Senior setup or we will lose them to lack of interest..
I Cant believe you could write such a stupid post...Yes we need to build on both our underage success but blooding thses over 21s in the Senior setup is just as important
The way young Nial Murray was handled by the Senior Management this year was nothing short of disgracefull
THATS OUR MAJOR PROBLEM THE TRANSFORMATION TO SENIOR LEVEL
