Ponger, you haven't done your homework very well. Most of the people you listed did have relevant experience and they are all managing senior teams, not minors. The point I have been making is that to be successful at senior level, you need to have been successful at minor / u21 level. And to be successful at minor county level you need a proven manager of youngsters, not a former player, even if he was exceptional as Dermot undoubtedly was. Anyway, what's done is done. Another lost opportunity in my view, but that's all it is…..my view. ondforty (Cavan) - Posts: 471 - 25/11/2010 14:25:18 822626 Link 0 |

Its a disgrace that we havent won a Minor Title since 1974..No offence to Mickey Graham or Dermot McCabe but they are not qualified enough to bring young players on.. That job should have been given to JJ Reilly or Finian Farrell from the Gaels.. Their proven track record with underage footballers this past 10-15 years proves they could handle the job richiej (UK) - Posts: 1430 - 25/11/2010 16:14:18 822711 Link 0 |

Oh Dear, I find myself actually feeling sorry for the new managers. They are under SERIOUS pressure to deliver success, especially with the manner in which they were appointed. BreffniBlue (Cavan) - Posts: 278 - 25/11/2010 17:20:57 822795 Link 0 |

Posters are not putting down Gary and dermot, more the process by which they were appointed. Interviews were held two weeks ago and each candidate was to have their management team in place. Gary and dermot have yet to announce their team and many of the other candidates refused to join their team when asked by the county board. Everybody hopes the cavan minor team does well next year. The whole process has not helped. thefacts (Cavan) - Posts: 21 - 30/11/2010 15:03:03 825211 Link 0 |

dermot mc cabe has no management experience although was an ok player doess definitely not mean he will b a successful manager. I reckon for one he will not win anything and itd definitely another step in the wron direction for Cavan GAA JohnSilver1 (Cavan) - Posts: 38 - 30/11/2010 18:25:27 825415 Link 0 |
