Of all those going for the minor position, who is or has worked with u16/minors in the last year or 2... James lovett-No, Gary Donohoe-No, Niall Lynch-Not directly, John Brady-Not directly, Dessie Reilly- Yes, Jim Hyland-yes. These boys know who is the good up n coming talent in the county.
The interviews are next week.

It has got to the stage that one of these guys or someone at least should be appointed.
What is keeping the county board in making the decision?
The young lads that 18 next year are not going to be minor again and they deserve proper manager and that person needs suffieient time to hold trials, pick a panel and mould a team and every day now is making that the Managers position is not filled lessens the chances of a successful outcome for next years minor team. The county board need to get their act together now and appoint someone.
As for the candidates;
Dessie Reilly - A Coach never managed anyone.
James Lovett as above
Niall Lynch also as above with the Virginia School exception.
Gary Donohoe - Manager who quit mid Championship - not what a good manager does regardless of circumstances.
John Brady - as far as I am aware never manage or coached but I stand open to correction
Jim Hyland - a referee.

None of these candidates have managed a senior club team which I my opinion should be the minimum requirement to manage a county team.
A Caoch is a coach , a Manager is definetely different - Just glad I am not a minor.

The Citeog is obviously not from Cavan! You do need correction! Jim Hyland involved with coaching at Denn. John Brady managed Lurgan/ Ramor underage teams from u-10 up to U-21. Was Minor manager for past three years and was one of managers of Ramor-Munterconnught 3 in a row team. Dessie Reilly involved heavily in Ballyhaise minor management also. Niall Lynch involved with Cuchulainn management as well as Virginia College. So go get the facts! Are you not in for the job yourself????

Ladyluk needs to read the Celt too, her facts are wrong also!!

Jim Hyland has been coaching in Denn in years. He manages currnent seionr players John Smith & Jerome Kiernan when the wer minor and won a league with same. You say none of the above have managed a senior club team thus making them not suitable for the minor manager... why.. they show they are in it for the love of the game n cus they want 2, not like most senior club managers ..... for a top up on ther wages.

If Cailin Deas these guys have all the management, coaching and credibility required for the job, why are other people who haven't even applied for the job being approached and asked to put their names forward, this also after the deadline has closed and as late as last week.

It is a month since I first started this thread.
I said at the time that the year was moving on and now the year is almost over.
The count board and minor county board really should be ashamed that on 17th Nov there is still no County Minor Manager in place.
It is a travesty for potential minor plaers that they have not had trials or a winter training programme and that they still do not know who will be managing them for what will be a very important year in their lives.
As for the guys nominated for the job it is a well known fact for a while now who they are and I geniunely feel sorry for them that they are left out on a public limb like that. the county board should get it sorted for their sake and fore the players sake.

I hear John Bradys backroom team is:

Larry "The Great" Knockbride
Ciaran Brady Gowna
Danny "The Gunner" Brady Mullahoran
& Ollie Fay Drumlane as trainer.

Thants some combination in my opinion and will take a fair team to beat that.

BothfeetLR, Ciaran Brady from Gowna and Larry Reilly are on John Brady's team. FACT.
Fintan Cahill, Raymond Tynan, Damien O'Reilly(Mullahoran) are on Niall Lynch's team.
Gary Donohoe and Dermot Mc Cabe, both Gowna don't have a team, but BOTH attended the interview together.
Saw them goin in last night.
But I have my suspicion that you know all this already, so what's the story YOU? Do YOU want the job yourself?

apparently Gary Donohoe was told the weekend that he had the job. It will be very interesting to see if he gets it... the candiates have been told this evening who was successfull. Can i just ask what would he or Dermot McCabe know about the underage players in the county they havent worked with them...

NEWSFLASH;
Gary Donohoe and Dermot MC Cabe are being put forward by Tom Reilly for ratification on Monday night as joint managers. FACT.
BothfeetLR ..You must be relieved.
Strange considering all the other candidates had to go through the application process in the way as set out by the Co. Board, Yet those two haven't even got selectors or a trainer yet!

Both feetLR...............actually I was in the Kilmore for a meal. I have no coaching courses done , therefore, wouldn't be qualified to apply, and I wouldn't want the job anyway! Good luck to them anyway, cos it's not the job that's gonna be tough, it's the putting down from so called GAA supporters, all you have done is pick holes in everyone on this forum.
That is what is wrong with Cavan football, politics and small mindedness.

Well done to the two boys, but could someone post what previous managerial experience and knowledge of underage football they have. I'm not complaining about them i'm just not very familiar with them and would like to know what their background is. Thanks.
