1229161 I just dont understand people like Tom who criticize people who are trying to in a genuine effort , and its paying dividence , West Cavan as an area , has some of the best footballing surfaces and facilities in the country and far ahead of the rest of Cavan , West Cavan may not have the best footballing ability , but this is not down too effort , there are many factors emmigration and low population and such. But the facilities in the area are first class and its bound to be good for the development of the players in the future , please Tom dont criticize before you get your facts straight
Drumalee

you talk dribble and I suppose where you are based influences that.
You say west Cavan have the best footballing surfaces and facilities. You then go on to say that West cavan players may not have the best ability.
You then go to justify the lack of ability as due to emigration and low population.
well Drumalee you just reinforce my points that West cavan is letting down Cavan GAA.
Good facilities, surfaces, good Lotto sellers, good All Ireland attenders, These facts are no good to Terry or Donal Keogan in selecting his team

Tomsmith is a wind up merchant. This means he comes on here to write stupid comments to intentionally annoy others hoping to string them along in a pointless argument. First it was countless threads on Donal Keoghan, then he blamed Junior clubs for Cavans demise and now its West Cavans turn. Why anyone would argue or discuss anything with him is beyond me.

this thread had had no responses since October 2009 untill this "new poster" dragged it back up.. and I quote this new poster.

West Cavan has some of the best teams, Templeport won a Div.1 title at u16 and a Div.2 title at u18 + Swadlabar won came second In Ireland junior level.

this makes me very suspicious. I have been urging posters on here not to respond to Tomsmith for years yet people still take him seriously.

Fredflint and S Goldrick just remain in your own little cocoon and in order to maintain Hoganstands high profile in allowing educated posts please dont respond now or in the future to any of my posts.

Well Sean o Rinn I will respond to you as you appear to have Cavan football at heart.
What I was saying is that West Cavan which has very good facilities for GAA teams have not contributed in any meaningful way to Cavan Senior teams.
I listed our last two home grown managers, current incumbrent Terry and former manager Donal Keogan who in my opinion both come from small clubs and and as such no bias would be attached to players from West Cavan's small clubs.
I apologise for my presumptions that you would understand what I was inferring without having to spell it out for you.

you did say the above and any person reading it would assume that Donal Keogan was a selector of the present county seniors. ???

Donal Keogan had at his disposal some very talented players BUT he made one huge mistake he listened to the spy in the stand.

How many games did Donal keoghan win as manager in both minor and senior Sean? He had more lock ins than wins I reckon. He made one big mistake alright, becoming the manager.

Sean,

| posted as follows""""These facts are no good to Terry or Donal Keogan in selecting his team""". It is in the present tense. For that I apologise that I used the incorrect grammer. I do know that to apologise is a sign of weakness but I will be big enough to do so.

But back to the point of issue , West Cavan may have excellant playing surfaces, club rooms lotto sellers, but where is the big players that in the past Donal or now Terry can look upon to pull a game out of the fire for Cavan.

In relation to Mr Flint and Drumalee please get preposting advice from a good and trausted friend before opening your computer to add your dribble to my intellegiant posts
Should your standard improve I may in future consider lifting my ban on responding to you, but as of now your low standard deserves silence.

This is interesting. Keoghan gets credit yet Terry gets none. Keoghan wins 1 champ game as Cavan manager and Terry wins silverware. You have a short memory Sean or maybe you don't know as much as you think you do about what went on under Keoghan. Seems you have your favourites and its tainted by personality not by results.

An old blast from the past. Shannon Gaels alone had 4 players alone on the Cavan u21 team last Saturday even if it was experimental. With further players from Templeport and Swanlinbar in the subs.

Why is Donal Keogan's name even being mentioned?? Laughable even comparing him to Terry. The results speak for themselves lads.

I thought West Cavan was always the home of Cavan football and it is only getting back to its rightful place with all these young stars from Shannon Gaels, Swanlinbar and Templeport!! Remember it also has the First club in Ulster!!!

I'm not sure why I'm responding to this stupid debate about West Cavan but I just did a quick count and as far as I can see there are only nine clubs in West Cavan altogether - Shannon Gaels, Corlough, Swanlinbar, Templeport, Belturbet, Drumlane, Kildallon, Killeshandra and Arva. That's 9 clubs out of a total of 40 - just over 20% of the clubs in the county. The other thing is that West Cavan is the least populated part of the county.

In the present Senior and U-21 squads we have Gearoid McKiernan, Declan McKiernan, Jason McLoughlin, Damian O'Reilly as regular members of the Cavan Senior team. There's a load of U-21s and Minors over the past 3-4 years starting with Gearoid himself and Jason McLoughlin, P.P. O'Hara, Patrick King, Neven O'Donnell, Kevin Bouchier, Ciaran Brady, Gerry Smith, Jonathan McCabe and that's only some that I can remember m and if you look at the Minor panel for 2013 you'll find there's a huge representation from West Cavan including people like Ben Kiernan and Greg McGovern. I know I'm leaving out a lot of others so maybe West Cavan people could supply more names. As well as that Templeport has one of the best parks in the county in terms of floodlights quality of the pitch and amenities. Now that I'm finished this rant maybe I'm glad that someone started this nonsense because I didn't realise until now how much the few West Cavan clubs are contributing to the county teams these times.
