New Tyrone manager Malachy O’Rourke says he won’t be rushing the squad’s Errigal Ciaran members back to action.
The Tyrone champions lost out to Cuala (Dublin) in the All-Ireland club SFC final last Sunday week, losing out by four points in end after seeing their remarkable comeback at Croke Park fall just short against the Dalkey men.
This past Saturday evening saw Tyrone returning to competitive action with an impressive 2-13 to 1-9 win over neighbours Derry in the Allianz League and, speaking to BBC Sport NI after the game, O’Rourke confirmed it’ll be another while before the Red Hands’ Errigal contingent return.
"We definitely want to give them a bit of a break. That couple of points tonight helps in that you aren't rushing them back in," said the Fermanagh native.
"You could get short-term gain out of it, but long-term pain. We'll be chatting with them and seeing how they feel and, hopefully, get them integrated back over the next couple of weeks.
"We have a panel there that we want to get a look at as well. We'll be delighted when the boys do come back in, it is a matter of getting them up to speed with the new rules."
