Under 16 Girls football championship.

Our under 16 girls welcomed Loughnavalley to Ballycomoyle on Tuesday evening last for the last round of the under 16 championship games.

Ballycomoyle started well and put the first scores on the board and went in at the break ahead by 3 pts.

Loughnavalley started the second half with great determination and Ballycomoyle found themselves working hard to stay in the game. The Ballycomoyle defence did exceptionally well to keep Loughnavalley score down. 

The final score on the night was 

Loughnavalley 4.10

Ballycomoyle 1.11

Thanks very much to Loughnavalley for a great game of football we wish them well in the knockout stages of the championship.

Thanks to Referee Ray Farrelly and his umpires. Thanks to all the supporters who cheered on the girls, thanks to the coaches and mentors.

Finally thank you and well done to the 21 girls who togged out and played with great heart and determination. We are very proud of you all.

St Michaels 4-13

Caulry 2-12

A unique occasion occurred this evening in Castlepollard with a minor football match played on the Castlepollard hurling pitch.

With Ballycomoyle and Castletown pitches booked Castlepollard generously gave access to complete this fixture. 

Caulry raced into a 1-2 to no score lead in the opening minutes to give major concern to st Michaels players. 

But the home team settled and brought back the deficit with serious intent not to lose another championship match.

St Michaels went in at the break up by 7 points and were ready for a reaction from Caulry into the second half and within 10mins the minimum was between the teams.

St Michaels galvanised, and took the last quarter to Caulry with ferocious intensity to put the game to bed.

Next up is the visit of Athlone in a fortnight...

U14 Ballycomoyle Boys – Match Report

The U14 Ballycomoyle boys travelled to Caulry on Wednesday evening for their latest game, with a few of our regular starting players unavailable.

Despite this, the boys got off to a very strong start, showing great determination and working hard to retain possession. They played some excellent football and took some great scores, putting the home side under plenty of pressure.

Caulry managed to find the back of the net on a number of occasions and went into half-time with a nine-point lead.

The home side came out very strongly in the second half and continued to take some excellent scores, extending their lead. Ballycomoyle never gave up and continued to battle right until the final whistle, showing great spirit and determination despite the scoreline.

Unfortunately, it wasn’t to be our night and the boys suffered a defeat, but there were plenty of positives to take from the performance. With several players stepping up and putting in a huge effort, the boys can be proud of their commitment and attitude throughout the game.

Well done to all the players who travelled and represented Ballycomoyle.

 

Under-14 Girls Championship

On Thursday evening last 20/8/26 our Under-14 girls took on St Mary’s Rochfordbridge in another outstanding performance.

From the minute the whistle was blown, the girls gave it their all, with every player playing to the best of her ability. We went into half-time leading 5-4 to 0-2

Yet again, the girls were outstanding in the second half, with some fantastic scores taken by our girls. Our goalkeeper was busy making some fantastic saves.

The final score was Ballycomoyle 7-11, St Mary’s Rochfortbridge 2-6, giving us three wins from three games and keeping our unbeaten run going! 

We now take on Killucan this Thursday in our final championship game.
