Anthony Cunningham has stepped down as Crossmaglen Rangers manager after two years at the helm.

Cunningham, who captained Cross’ to All-Ireland glory in 2000, took over from Stephen Kernan in November 2022 and ensured the South Armagh giants retained the Gerry Fagan Cup in his first year in charge at Clan na Gael’s expense. However, their bid for three-in-a-row came unstuck against Clann Éireann in the recent county semi-final, prompting Cunningham’s departure.

Crossmaglen’s season was overshadowed by Caolan Finnegan’s sad passing from an aggressive form of brain cancer in August. The former Armagh player was only 20.
