Clonmel Commercials manager Tommy Morrissey has warned his side against complacency as they prepare to face Loughmore/Castleiney in Sunday’s Tipperary senior football championship final (4pm).
The winners will become the first recipients of the Philly Ryan Cup, named in honour of the late Tipperary football manager and Clonmel Commercials legend, whose first anniversary falls on Sunday.
Commercials head into the decider on the back of a more recent success for the club, with 13 members of their football panel having featured in St Mary’s victorious hurling team last weekend
However, speaking to TippFM Sport this week, Morrissey insists his side are fully aware of the challenge awaiting them.
“Momentum is huge in sport, at the same time, when you’re up there there’s only somebody waiting to knock you back down,” he said.
“You have to be extra cautious because certainly complacency is something that I won’t be letting soak in to the group this week.”
The Commercials boss added: “We need to make sure that we understand we’re coming up against a formidable side in Loughmore. This isn’t just a case of you turn up in a county final, we have a serious battle on Sunday ahead.”
