Dingle GAA is set to name its new community facility after the late great Micheál Ó Muircheartaigh.
The Kerry club confirmed that there had been unanimous agreement at the September meeting of the club's executive committee to name the new facility after the commentating legend who passed away in June of last year.
‘Áras Mhíchíl Uí Mhuircheartaigh’ is set to an include all-weather, floodlit training facility as well as community spaces, meeting spaces and accessible toilet facilities and is expected to cost around €3.5m.
As part of a statement released by Dingle GAA, club chairman Seán Ó Súilleabháin commented: "Micheál's contribution throughout his lifetime to the promotion of our native language and cultural heritage was nothing short of immense.
"An iconic ambassador that we are privileged to be able to call one of our own. It will be a source of great pride for the people of West Kerry to see his name going above the door of a facility which promises to nurture and promote the very things which meant so much to Micheál."
