Just five months after being appointed as Donegal football manager, Paddy Carr has walked away from the job.

The former Louth and Kilmacud Crokes manager has seen his charges struggle in the Allianz FL with one win from six games and they look like being relegated from Division 1.

Carr announced his decision after talks with some senior members of his squad.

“Following a discussion with some senior members of the Donegal football team, I want to announce that I’m stepping away from the position of Donegal team Manager with immediate effect,” said Carr in a statement released by the county board. “ I want nothing more than the best for Donegal and that will never change.”

The news could not have come at a worse time for the county, which is still reeling from the resignation of Karl Lacey and nearly all the coaches from the Donegal Football Academy.
