Leitrim GAA have hailed the "wonderful" efforts of their supporters after the huge success of their ambitious '50 Miles in January Challenge' to help with the cost of running its inter-county teams in 2021.
Proud Leitrim supporters at home and across the world were out running, walking or soloing 50 miles in January in the cold, rain, snow and ice looking to raise funds for the county's cause before the start of the new season.

“We’ve had no avenue for income since last march. No income from county games or club games, even pub draws are gone. Leitrim has been closed down," Leitrim GAA chairman Enda Stenson said before the launch of the '50 Miles in January Challenge'.
"As a rural community we don’t have the industrial base to generate income from sponsorship. But that shouldn’t stop us from putting out a team."
Originally hoping to raise €50,000, Leitrim supporters more than doubled their target, raising an incredible €100,000 in just a month!
It might have the smallest population of any county in Ireland, but Leitrim people are a very proud and passionate group of supporters.
We've done it - we've crossed €100,000 !
