Will Pairc Tailteann/Meath GAA pocket much from the 2 games this weekend?

If we were to calculate gate receipts for 3 × 10,000 spectators ( Meath v Tyrone) surely that would equate to some healthy income.

What would the breakdown be from home team, away team and central council

Don't know what the breakdown is but I imagine the County Board certainly benefitted well from the fixtures. Did anyone hear what the attendances were at the two matches? Looked a big crowd for the Kildare/Fermanagh match with a few even enjoying the fine evening on the grass banks which was surprising at the hospital end given that Sky had set up their studio on it.

So, will we all be buying tickets for the house draw?? Not badly priced and in fairness there's a nice incentive for the clubs to be proactive selling with the commission rates, looks like things are moving on well but can anyone confirm what side of the ground they starting on??

It looks like it is only you and me interested in the redevelopment Richie.

From what I recall of the phasing plan, the main stand is to be demolished and rebuilt to facilitate dressing rooms etc while the other stands are finished out.

Work is due to begin in February according to a colleague. But I would have imagined November would be as soon as they could start. February is beginning of league.

Only rumor , but I think it will be the stand first.
Yeah, I will be buying a ticket or two for the house.

Ah it's exciting and promising times I suppose, developing PT is part of a broader improvement and modernisation of things like training facilities, underage set up, hurling etc it's nice to see things move forward and improve and give us optimism, we should probably applaud these things more and see them for what they are which are huge steps in the right direction, a fully functioning PT is good for the economy of the county board and the county in general and it looks like was has been designed is suited to the present day unlike some other stadia developments that have been done in recent years with half roofs, pillars and seats with no backs!!!

This is so long overdue. Even if they only replace the main stand with a modern one with proper seating and facilities that would be enough for many years. Any other side they revamp after that is a bonus. What's next after the main stand? Revamp the opposite side or one of the terraces?

I know what your saying and yes a new main stand will be a massive improvement in itself but at the same time I wouldn't like to see everyone relax and rest on there laurels once it's built. There's an excellent plan for a complete new stadium that could be a template for GAA stadia developments going forward, I think it was Kilkenny that advise to build it as quick as possible and get it functioning as they felt they dragged Nowlan Park out too long. I have a feeling PT won't end up all seater and I would probably leave the town end as standing but still with a roof and build stands on the other three sides as planned, remember only 2/3 of the new main stand with 4000 seats is being build as phase 1, I presume phase 2 will be extending it to the planned 7000 seats and then I would think one of the goal ends would be next, the existing terrace is serviceable and has a big capacity so leaving it till last would seem the thing to do

Yeah my thinking would be that after the main stand, they could actually do both terraces together. They are out of commission anyway, so the disruption would be minimal, and we'd be left with a full stand and full terrace while they are being done which would still give a decent capacity for home championship games.

Yeah that's the way I think it should proceed too

This is good to hear.

Momentum on this project is essential.

Developing the only part of PT that meets current standards i.e. the North Terrace is a strange approach unless of course that they "drive on" and complete the whole job which would be great but I don't know where the money is going to come from.

If I had my way I would develop the hospital end, including a stand first which would mean that we still had a stand while the present stand is being demolished. We need PT to still function during the development as there are no other suitable venues in the County for NFL games. Ashbourne is frequently mentioned but access is a major problem esp if we are lucky and good enough to be promoted to Div 1 next year. Also say that promotion was strongly on the cards in the final home League game in 2019 you could expect 12,000 to 15,000 to attend.

They could relocate to croker for a year of league games. I'm disappointed the capacity of this project isn't 30,000. Leinster needs a second big capacity stadium in the North half. I know with Dublin currently dominating and attendances plummeting there seems little need but the gaa should think long term.

Absolutely, I have no problem with them
Moving to

Yes I was a little surprised to hear that the terrace would be first to, I suppose that given the fact we would have no seated or covered accommodation in excess of a year of the stand went first was one consideration, I often thought that one of the goal ends would be developed first too seeing as they by and large have been closed since 2012 although I believe it is hoped that with government funding it will be possible to build the entire North Stand with 7000 seats as opposed to split it into two phases with 4000 seats first so I suppose developing a side first with a maximum capacity return was seen as desirable. The fact that demolition of the terrace would be a quicker more straight forward process to the asbestos covered stand may also have influenced matters.

Oh I don't know I don't like this idea of league matches in Croker at all plus I would hate to turn away revenue gained from league matches. I would presume that the decision to develop the terrace side first was to ensure league matches could still be played in Navan, some remedial works could boost the capacity on the existing stand side if needed I would imagine

I see people indicating that goal ends should be developed first. Which is logical but not practical for construction purposes. Where these areas will cleared away and require a lot of work. Also these areas least attractive for viewing games. There is little gain from having two ends completely developed and then redevelop the main stands.

The terrace being redeveloped first is the best approach as it will retain the key player facilities, press areas, and seated accommodation to visitors in the main stand and will allow PT remain open throughout the phased development

While the terrace is totally functional, it is being replaced with a fully seated stand to accommodate somwhere in the region of 4,000 - 7,000. So when complete it will be able to take league capacity.

Also, the development of the North stand will show the new penny to Navan.

It would be bad for supporters as croker will have no atmosphere. It would be good for the team having croker as it's home venue for a year. Did the dubs no harm turning it into their home ground. 7,000 capacity for the North stand seated is good. You'd like to think a stand that holds 10,000 would go on the other side. Another behind the goal but there should be a terrace kept at one end. First of all to maximise capacity but secondly to offer the fans who want to stand the chance to stand.
