The tension is building up big time for this one can't wait until it's underway. Nerves are shot though Louth are coming in under the radar like snakes in the grass! This is the real battle of the boyne not like the buildup to 2010 where we were expected to win and win well. Haven't heard from anyone since they got back from Portugal ziggy but all should be well yes, barring any mishaps over there. On the s&c, I certainly wasn't advocating just getting a load of water carriers built like rugby players in, but a certain skill level is what gets you to inter county level first and foremost, the rest is where the proper set up should look after. An interesting example is our own Ronan Jones, he's conditioned ridiculously well for his age, his footballing ability is clear to see too, but he's been drafted in and you'd think there might not be a big transition needed. Where else does he play his football apart from Dunboyne? DCU... It's not rocket science just common sense. Back to the football, with our problems with injuries being full back, I'd have Mickey there assuming Grimes is their FF, he's handy but is big and physical which is no problem for Mickey so it might not be such a problem. Keogan was almost like a playmaker for us at times in the league so I wouldn't sacrifice him there, I'd imagine he'll pick up Burns anyway who looks dangerous also. Don't know an awful lot else about this Louth team. Elsewhere I don't think there's any point guessing a starting 15 considering Micko was changing himself right up until the last day of the league himself. I think it's a good game for us though. All the talk of us is being lightweight, mentally weak etc, Louth won't admit whilst talking themselves down but they will be raring to put all this to the test. I think it might harden us up a bit and bring this young team on. Just had a look there and we're 1/4 with Louth 7/2, the handicap is -4 at the moment. If it looks like close to the side I'd like to see myself I can see myself taking the handicap for the days drinking money. As stated if it's close anything could happen as we know but if we're on form I can see us winning without much fuss. Problem with Jones is the fact that he has zero experience.Wouldn't be surprised if he made his debut this summer,I always rather someone like that get that experience in the league. I would play Cian O'Brien with Rooney in midfield and use Jones as a possiblity to replace one of them later,but would have rathered he got some minutes in the league.Throwing Joey Wallace into the fire of the championship did him little good,his brother played league games before his debut in the champ. ziggy32001 (Meath) - Posts: 8354 - 02/06/2016 13:23:04 1860870 Link

I suppose with Meath scoring 5 goals against the Dubs in the semi finals confidence would of been sky high. Louth,s Paddy Keenan and Brian White was a great partnership in the middle of the pitch to get us to the Leinster final. White was man of the match against Kildare in the Q/F and Keenan was man of the match against Westmeath in the S/F. Louth will want to keep it tight for first 40/50 minutes, if they are close or ahead with 20 minutes to go we will see if hangover from Westmeath game is still there. S&C, and skill are all well and good but courage when the going gets tough is critical. Boylans teams had it in spades. That is very true Bert..you can have all the skills and fitness in the world but if your not willing to put your body on the line your not worth a dam sadly at county level ! WhyTheLongFace- There are lots of lads playing junior football who would put their bodies on the line but that is of little use if you do not have the skills, ability to go along with it. In Sean's Boylan's era their were players with loads of skill and we had some of the best midfielders in the country along with at least 3 of the best forwards in the country with some very good defenders -guys who could defend. We have problems in all the areas mentioned. Making comparisons with present is of little use as the game as moved on somewhat (whether for good or bad). There were players in that era who would have serious problems with the pace of the present game and not to mention the number of cameras /officials in communication around the pitch which may would have caused lots of players around the country some problems. browncows (Meath) - Posts: 2342 - 03/06/2016 10:49:53 1861126 Link

Goal keeper...could easily lose the game Defender who marks young Grimes for louth..Grimes will be used as a battering ram to break the first tackle,ball will be dinked into the wide corners for him to retrieve (watch Kieran Martin display for Weastmeath last year against us) The midfield partnership..getting the right combination and chemistry between the two But whythelongface you never bloody named a player only positions :) WhyTheLongFace (Meath) - Posts: 938 - 03/06/2016 14:57:48 1861251 Link
