If regional is to work, there has to be alot of work done to ensure it is a worthwhile change. The regional as a stand alone at end of year is clearly not gaining much interest and it could be argued many of the best smaller club players don't even get involved given the fixtures were midweek under lights at end of season. Participation is not down to having too many clubs or the smaller club model. I think if you eliminated a number of smaller clubs, the drop off would be more. The Intermediate championship is definitely as wide open as it has ever been. Duleek are yet to hit form and definitely struggling at the moment, Meath Hill are hot and cold, Moynalvey are tipping away, St Pats the same. It's definitely as wide open as it has ever been and will definitely be a few shock results this year. Judging on league (still 5 weeks out from championship) O'Mahonys are competing at the highest level which should stand to them with St Michael's and Meath Hill the best of the intermediate bunch in Division 2. A lot of work can be done in the next 5 weeks and can be a massive help to the teams struggling to find form at the moment. Senior: Hard to look past Summerhill, rathoath. Skryne could do well this year and watch out for the Bracks, but lack of fire power might let them down eventually. Intermediate: O'Mahonies, duleek, Oldcastle and Pats will be in the mix- come the business end. Ballivor motoring smoothly also so could cause an upset. Senior- Summerhill & Ratoath head and shoulder above the rest. There are a few teams that could catch one of them on the hop in a knockout game if all goes their way. Dunshaughlin, Ashbourne maybe Dunboyne and Tones. Could any of these teams put two back to back performances in to beat both shill and Rtoath to win the SFC i doubt it but if the two favs meet early in the championship it could make it interesting. Intermediate - Any number of teams in the hunt here. Navan despite the league table haven't been completely off the pace at Div 1 level which should stand to them. Duleek probably lacked that bit of guile and experience to get over the line the last few years, don't think you can address that with young players no matter how good they are. Senior is probably the least open if we are honest. I will go with Senior: Summerhill or maybe Dunboyne. Don Ash to have a say. Inter: Anyone's guess. Could be any of 7 or 8 teams. If they can get out of the blocks fast it could be quick return for Moynalvey. So going to go for them with St Pats the closest challengers and Meath Hill having a big say. Duleek have a bit of work to do but I would never write them off Junior: Another exciting one. Ballinlough, Clann na Gael and Slane look best placed. On recent form will go with Ballinlough but if the hurling goes well that could be a problem Junior B: Surely Moynalty will finally cross the line? It will not be easy though.
