Ballivor by nature is built up of Kildalkey and Killyon hurlers whose main focus generally is to win senior hurling championships. Presume this forum using is trying to use a small bit of humour. HOW DARE HE!!! Meathfootball12 (Meath) - Posts: 6 - 12/09/2024 14:14:50 2569561 Link 0 |
Ballivor may be a "default football for some of the hurling clubs" but they play very nice football and for people to call them a hurling club is an insult as it's a club who play football… and a credit to them that they can play both so well, which takes up alot of time and commitment. For instance Moyfenragh got to a regional final with so called "bunch of hurlers"…

I didn't call them a hurling club, I'm just pointing out why someone would refer to them as such.

its a strange venue in Trim for Ballivor vs Oldcastle, i know it cant be helped with all the games, but its a fair trek for Oldcastle compared to Ballivor, you would have thought Kilskyre would be perfect either that or Athboy or Ballinlough. at least its slightly in middle even though ballinlough would be closer to oldcastle and vice versa Athboy with Ballivor. dickie10 (UK) - Posts: 767 - 13/09/2024 21:35:32 2569776 Link 1 |
Drumbaragh might have got it, but lack of provided linesman in ballinlough/ dunderry game didn't help.

put it into google maps the other day , Kilskyre is 0.5 km closer to oldcastle than ballivor almost bang in middle! dickie10 (UK) - Posts: 767 - 15/09/2024 22:52:14 2570029 Link 0 |
its up to the county board to appoint linesmen not the host clubs , especially when the host club were playing in the championship at nearly the same time in another venue

They were playing in moylagh, 2 hours before against oldcastle. Plenty of clubman standing around to help out from what I seen

Ballivor had no interest in football today. They brought oldcastle down to their level. Gaelic_Games (Meath) - Posts: 21 - 22/09/2024 20:38:09 2571314 Link 0 |
Was at the game. Ballivor led the whole way and Oldcastle looked flat for 50 minutes..no urgency until injury time loomed. Fair play to Ballivor, they frustrated Oldcastle and put in a very cultured performance. They'll be hard to beat! trueblue1995 (Meath) - Posts: 40 - 22/09/2024 21:59:13 2571328 Link 0 |
Dry your eyes mate! Ballivor matched Oldcastle in every aspect of the game and wasnt the team getting cards. Do better! fred2 (Meath) - Posts: 25 - 22/09/2024 23:40:00 2571341 Link 1 |
And it worked. Good on them. Oldcastle still soft I see.

Was at the game as a neutral and have to say totally disagree with you from word go Ballivor were the far better team. Their workmate, defending, willingness to put their bodies on the line and superb attacking play was the difference. Oldcastle couldn't live with them and didn't know what to do to change it. Ballivor seem to get alot if flack on here because alot of lads that play for them play hurling aswell and the tag "Hurlers: is constantly thrown at them but people aren't as quick to acknowledge what accomplished footballers they also are . It will take a fair team to stop them

Just on this one lads. The standard yesterday was very poor. Some of the point shooting was embarrassing. There would appear to quite a difference in standard between the intermediate and senior levels. Rickoshay (Meath) - Posts: 30 - 23/09/2024 08:50:43 2571366 Link 0 |
Was at the Ballivor - Oldcastle game yesterday and a Ballivor team with a number of players heavily strapped and missing two senior players in Keith Keoghan and Adam Gannon got the better of Oldcastle in every single aspect of the game. Oldcastle weren't able for Ballivor's pace nor their physicality especially in the end when things boilded over and a few Oldcastle players drew kicks and punches in frustration as they lost out to plucky little Ballivor and their team of hurlers. Great to see a team from my part of the county show everyone we can play a bit of the big ball too down here. Kildalkey the SHC standard-bearers and Ballivor now a feared team for the rest of IFC. Agree. The senior especially the top 10 teams or so are miles ahead of intermediate. The winners this year will likely struggle as soon as they go up. Junior and intermediate much more closely aligned. There are probably 3 or 4 teams in intermediate not much better than junior b level but only one team will be relegated. Oldcastle seem to struggle at business end when going gets tough. How did Jason Scully play? As a county player, would be expecting him to be leading the way there. winatallcost (Meath) - Posts: 587 - 23/09/2024 09:57:35 2571388 Link 0 |
