Well well well folks what a wonderful weekend of football we were treated to last weekend. Apologies Im only getting to post now as I was in the pub all weekend after Ardbraccans famous win on Saturday, what a result for the redmen! Does anyone know where I could get myself, my wife and my girlfriend an Ardbraccan jersey? I know they would love it so they would. It was great to see Jim Gavin adin Ballinlough for the clash of Lough Crew and Boyne Valley, its clear to see the massive interest this competition is attracting. I told Jim that the inside backs will be busier than one armed bricklayers with the new rules and he got a good laugh out of it. I thought he was laughing at me but thankfully my 4 sons held me back from doing anything because it wouldnt of ended well for Jim. Are you a Bracs man I thought you would be a follower of an tuaisceart or with their opening round loss to the crew have you stopped that ? No loyalty in meath regional football anymore makes me sick to my teeth..evidance of that was the bracs fielding lads from the cilles its like the NFL or premier league, wake up one day playing in bettystown and suddenly you've been "traded" and have to move to Johnstown RobbiesArmy2025 (Meath) - Posts: 29 - 29/10/2024 11:01:42 2577430 Link 0 |
My wife, girlfriend and 4 sons are lifetime Ardbraccan supporters and they have pulled me into it. My son Josh wrote an essay on the history of Ardbraccan for his leaving cert applied essay and he got a C+ in it which made me very proud. Id like to see an Tuaisceart doing well but im now a devoted Braccan supporter. Im thinking of getting a half an tuaisceart and half Ardbraccan jersey made. My wife is a great seamstress. I digress, the main reason for this competition is to see who is fit to play on Robbies panel so I have no problem with the sellas from other clubs playing but id like to see more lads from Cortown getting game time at the same time. The Braccan could only name 23 players for the game at the weekend so they need numbers.

What a win for Ard braccan. I was a bit disappointed by the low numbers named on the ardbraccan bench in comparison to some of the other teams. Some of the Navan men need to pull their socks up and get out of the pub after the loss to the mountain men. I'd love to see Cian McBride in the square. Imagine lumping the ball into him and him winning the free for Aiden Mallon to kick over the black spot. If we did something like that with Meath then jes we'd have a half chance in the leinster championship. MartryMorrisey (Meath) - Posts: 19 - 29/10/2024 11:54:28 2577437 Link 0 |
Is Jim Gavin looking to poach our players or what is he at Jes. He must have his fingers in a few pies. Its grate to see that were making national news at least. I bet on my marriage that Dublin will be running a similar competition this time next year. @NMR I hope you asked big Jim could he be the meath manager next year instead of levelling him. He played for the Round Towers in Dublin I remember but couldnt make the under 21s because he was off on holidays somewhere fancy. Is robbie brennan from dublin?

I've lost faith in the competition already, that reason why this competition was setup was to give players a chance who might never play senior, the first year it was ran properly and lads gave it a good go. Nothingbutthetruth (Meath) - Posts: 58 - 30/10/2024 08:28:49 2577553 Link 0 |
Jes I hate this kind of negativity so I do. What harm in letting lads play a bit of winter football to harden them up sure isnt it better than having them adin their rooms watching the cartoons on their tablets or whatever they do be at this weather. With regards to the Kingscourt star, hes a meath man and he should be allowed to play if he wants. If hes good enough to model our new jersey hes good enough to be playing adin the regionals. This competition is very important to allow lads to express themselves and it has worked very well over the past 2 years bringing the likes of Harry O from the emments onto the panel. Ill be at the Braccans training tonight adin the mahenys and will provide an update on who is moving well. NorthMeathRising (Meath) - Posts: 27 - 30/10/2024 11:51:31 2577580 Link 0 |
The rules are the rules is my point, Ur trying to be older than you are, ur the one probably watching the cartoons and no lads shouldn't be allowed play if they want, they don't play junior or intermediate football, Your obviously from North Meath/south Cavan so I can see why you would back them

Regional teams should be playing in the SFC along with Senior clubs. Lads playing against the same cohort they have been competing with all year doesn't show whether they can mix it a higher level as such. Kerry model exposes players from Inter & Junior clubs to Senior standard. However, very unlikely Senior clubs in Meath would agree to the extra competition. The opportunity is there now with this review of the competitions structure being assessed . loyalroyal13 (Meath) - Posts: 23 - 30/10/2024 14:09:58 2577615 Link 0 |
The issue is that in Kerry they don't have to play their football championship every second week with hurling inbetween. That allows them to have a club only and then also a county championship. How are regional teams meant to play in the senior championship while also having junior and inter championship the same weekend. I would like to see the regional teams play club teams. The only avenue to me seems to be having them in the Feis cup but then you'd probably have to scrap Corn Na Boinne and the Tailteann cup/shield. Don't think that would be a major issue given the length of the league but perhaps some opposition to it

I think the regional championship should be for all, but I dunno about development players from other counties now. If were gonna get players from other countys jes I'd grab a few of the young fellas on the brink of the Dublin panel. Dean&Barney Rock was me aunts neighbour growing up in Ashbourne. Would each of the regional teams involved actually be able to compete in senior championship competitively or even win the intermediate championship?

Why not put all the regional teams into the Feis Cup in February/March? give the lads a break from November to January/February then run the regional in the feis cup to make it worth while and appealing to intermediate and junior teams to participate in? If there was a feis cup medal up for grabs I'd definitely want to be apart of a regional team to push and win it. I'm sure senior teams would buy into this and also allows regional teams to train and get together to prepare for 4/5 weeks before first game.

I like this idea but what would it mean for the players from intermediate and junior clubs who don't get picked for their region? They have no pre season cup competition to play in to get ready for the league I assume because I don't think you could run those comps alongside the feis Cup with the regions in it if teams are missing lots of players. Not because winning the pre season junior or intermediate cup comps is important but some smaller clubs would be working off very tight squads I'd imagine amd missing 4 or 5 because of regional duty might mean the club can't fulfil their own fixture ?? As I said I like the idea of the regions playing in the feis Cup but I'm wondering what it would mean for players and clubs not involved?? I agree that it would be questionable, but if players are given an opportunity to actually compete for the Keegan Cup, or the current cup for regionals, and compete at that higher kevel, it would surely be more appealing, as it provides player a chance they may never otherwise be afforded. You'd have more lads making themselves available than there are currently I feel, and get a more true reflection of how strong players are in the region, and thus overall. Regions should include senior clubs in their catchment area, but the players from those clubs would only play with the regional team.if they were relegated from the Senior Championship outright. Like Kerry, Keegan winner goes to Leinster unless a club team wins the new competition.

Morning folks, I had the pleasure of attending the Bracs training adin the mahenys yesterday, it was a sight to behold. I was shocked to hear a Dublin accent coming from the dressing room when I arrived 15 mins early, I wouldnt have the best eye sight but Im going to safely assume it was Jim Gavin giving the lads a talk before they took to Paddy Obrien park. I was speaking to one of the Bracs players after training when he was signing my girlfriends and my wifes jerseys and he mentioned that Jim was doing video analysis with them ahead of the crunch game this weekend again Blackwater adin Drumbaragh. This goes to show the hunger in each region to win the Bradys Skoda Regional Championship. There was talk of the Bracs heading to the Brews Hill Thai Massage after training for a rub down too. Its marvelous to see the competition being treated with such respect. My predicted XV for the game on Saturday to follow later today. Thats an outrageous statement. I assume you do be imagining some of these things or are just pullin me leg. Although I did hear something about Jim Gavin taking a keen interest in the Bradys Skoda Regional Championship. Is Robbie Brennan from Dublin?

My predicted VX as promised. Just to note there were a few notable absentees from training in the mahenys last night so I found this weeks prediction difficult: NorthMeathRising (Meath) - Posts: 27 - 31/10/2024 12:56:50 2577717 Link 1 |
