Brian Conlon position is debatable alright but I don't think Jones is anywhere near fit enough to play anything more than a half, same with Harnan. You could play Shane mcentee or Shane Crosby there I suppose but I reckon COR picks Brian Conlon. As for the rest of the team we must be getting relegated so because I picked most of the players everyone else is picking!!

9) Ronan Jones
10) Cillian O'Sullivan

Getting this 15 on the pitch by the time of the Dublin match on March 18th must be a priority."
Only two I would be hesitant on here are Clarke and Harnan.
Clarke is a decent footballer but I just think he's not quite county standard.....I will be happy to be proved wrong if he has kicked on this year but from what I've seen I'm just not convinced.

Harnan for me has not been at the races the last 3-4 years. Yes injuries have plagued him but thats football, I would much rather see the likes of Cathal Hickey or Shane McEntee there, both far fitter and more mobile, and both better on the ball as well.

I do also think that the opinion on the forwards may change after a few league games, its very difficult to judge players in the current playing conditions, but by the time the Dubin game comes around we will have had a few league games under the belt (hopefully in better playing conditions) and lads will be that bit sharper and showing where they're actually at

Agreed. The full back line there especially are nowhere near first choice. They are all very good defenders but not all three are starters. I could see Flood or O'Hare pushing for a corner back slot but that's it. That team would be ripped apart against Derry, Dublin or Kildare.

I'd have o hare in the backs somewhere looks very good anytime I've seen him.Dont know about Harnan hopefully he gets his fitness and form back by then.I like the midfield with maybe mcGowan floating around helping out the midfield.Would you put Costello in full forward as a target man?it looks like we are going to be kicking long more often but we need it to stick up top.Shane Walsh another who could be a starter(played well for Na finana last year) I know he has struggled a bit when with Meath but maybe new management can help him.Maybe Menton might give it another year maybe wishful thinking but he would be a big asset to management.

I fully agree Re Harnan.

Has done very little the last few years to warrant being on the panel. I think persistent injuries have taken their toll on him.

TBH if I'd have my doubts that if his surname wasn't Harnan that he'd be still on the panel at all. I'd probably move Harkin up to wing back and bring in James O'Hare who IMO has been very good .

I do know what ur saying. Also wouldn't have Conlon on it either. Thought maybe his old club manager might reinvent him but haven't seen anything last 3 games to suggest anything different from last couple of years. Both might be ok to bring on towards end of game but for me it's time to move on at this stage.

From what I've seen at club level our best midfield that is available looks to be Jack Flynn and Ronan Jones.
Daithi McGowan is best suited to the half forward line and possible drifting in as a 3rd midfielder or kickout option.
Brian Conlon hasn't looked up to senior county standard any time I've seen him play at both county and club level, I'd have both Summerhill midfielders, Ben McGowan from Ratoath and the Tones & Kells midfielders ahead of him.

This still isn't a dominant midfield duo, but it is a young pairing that can hold their own and then hopefully improve and develop over time

McCarrick is not 20s this year I believe he is too old.
Kinsella and himself seem to be doing very well with maynooth so would like to see a bit more of both, guessing Kinsella will be one of the main men for the 20s.
Frayne and Caulfield are two of the other strong players from that 20s team so hopefully they will be a good addition to the senior or sub senior set up next year.

In my humble opinion I hope COR his selectors & Garrigan bring a sense of stability to the Team selections and panel, when you look at the Meath Ladies success it was built on a solid team. Look at the team that bet Cork in that breakthrough match in 2020 to the team that won a second All Ireland Vs Kerry last summer, 13 of the team are the same (a few players might be in a few different positions). We need to pick our best 15 (there will always be injuries and suspensions) and then coach the hell out of them till they all know at all times their roles & what's expected of them Defensively , Kick-outs, Transition & Attack, getting the right players on the end of the move from the scoring zone. In fairness between the Championship, regional championship & O'Byrne Cup a lot of players got their chance.
We can't have every player that kicks 3 points for their Club or College included, the u20s should play with the u20s, the players who want to make the step up should be ready Physically & mentally. If young players keep being thrown in too quick they will be burnt out by their prime. We see it this year with one of our young forwards looking for a year off at 23?
I wish COR and all his Management team success in '23

Will McGill be available? I like the look of the team. Might put in young Curtis instead of lenihane. But that is 50/50.

Just a bit of fun fella, always a bit dry waiting for the league season to start, no disrespect to the O'Byrne Cup.

In Colm's interview after the Longford game he said McGill and Walsh won't make the Cork game.
