Draw is next Monday. We can get Tyrone, Mayo, Armagh, Monaghan, Louth, Cork or Clare. CastleBravo (Meath) - Posts: 1664 - 17/05/2022 10:40:47 2418019 Link 17 |

Louth would probably beat us tbh Meath10 (Meath) - Posts: 190 - 17/05/2022 11:37:45 2418056 Link 1 |
It took us 45 minutes to score 1 point against Galway last time we met; I would not be confident of beating them in an AI QF if we got that far....

Louth Clare or Cork in that order ABK67 (Meath) - Posts: 62 - 17/05/2022 12:15:41 2418079 Link 0 |
We would be better off losing at this stage, draw a line under it and move on. atta (Meath) - Posts: 704 - 17/05/2022 12:22:00 2418082 Link 3 |
Absolute balderdash.

I can see your point, get it over with and get on with the process of setting up a committee to identify and hire a new manager. But, we should never want our team to lose. There is also the potential benefit of a run in the qualifiers developing some of the younger players and building up their confidence. So, no we would not be better off losing at this stage. And I might get creeled for this regarding free taking but they need to identify a right footed free taker to complement Hogan. The free he missed on the left side in the first half was kickable and imo it was unfair on Hogan to be taking those with his left foot. trim1 (Meath) - Posts: 162 - 17/05/2022 17:52:10 2418221 Link 0 |
And here folks is why we are where we are. Disgraceful.

Anyway my choices would be as follows royaldunne (Meath) - Posts: 19449 - 18/05/2022 09:49:36 2418279 Link 0 |
RD come off it 50/50 between us and Armagh/ Tyrone. We last beat Tyrone in a championship match in 2007, Armagh in 99. Can't remember when we last beat Tyrone in the league and Armagh i think was 2018/2019 but we've moved in opposite directions since. I know you're an optimistic bloke but that's a stretch too far. Right now we'd be lucky to get over any of them and I'd say after Sunday we're the lowest ranked team in the competition. I'd honestly say there's a few teams in the Tailteann cup that would fancy their chances v Meath too. Cavan, Tipp, Offaly and Down would all be whetting their lips to get a go at this current crop. We were lucky to get draws with Offaly and Down during the league and Cavan and Tipp are both well organised, know their system and are well capable of scoring, which we struggle with immensely. I never want to see Meath lose, but I'm honestly unsure if (and given the loss they had to Dublin) they have it within themselves to get up for another game this season. I think they stumbled through games this year knowing what was going to happen once the season was over and when the going got tough on the field a lot of players crumbled. brian (Meath) - Posts: 1973 - 18/05/2022 10:20:09 2418296 Link 10 |
I reckon that Tyrone could be moved up a few spots. Id absolutley love them in Navan. We owe them one from a few years ago & they are in as bad shape as us or worse. And if there was any bit of reaction or bounce in our lads, I think we could have a great bank Holiday Saturday evening in the Sun in Navan.. And for all the doom and gloom around at the minute & pessimism, you can be sure that if Meath v Tyrone was pulled out next Monday morning, this board would light up with people on with a much more optimistic attiude and eager for the game. If we draw Louth or Limerick, there will be pure fear of losing, the pessimism will continue and your in sticky spot leading up to the game. Fair comments there Jinxie, and i know i can be pessimistic at times but I'm also a realist and I think Tyrone should and would beat us by ten points. If any team does the qualifiers well its them. I'm not sure if you made a mistake including Limerick there as they're in a Munster final but that might be your best way to the final eight is to draw Louth or Clare, win that and then get Limerick in the second round, but right now i think that's just hope and reorganising the deck chairs on the Titanic brian (Meath) - Posts: 1973 - 18/05/2022 11:08:09 2418329 Link 5 |
I think every poster is on the wind up at this stage? hurlit (Meath) - Posts: 424 - 18/05/2022 11:31:53 2418338 Link 3 |
I stand over it. For me they are the worst team I can ever remember winning an All Ireland. Feel free to offer an alternative... I think with the departures they've had, how their league has gone & how they performed v Derry, if we got them at home I think we'd have a good chance. Your right Brian, I've done Limerick an injustice by counting them in a round too early. I had just quickly ran through the promoted relegated teams and forgot the were in the Munster Final. Jinxie (Meath) - Posts: 6347 - 18/05/2022 12:36:25 2418361 Link 1 |
Tyrone ? You are having a laugh ? Actually as jinxie rightly pointed out. I've probably included them higher than I should have. And would have them behind Armagh and possibly cork. They are in a shambles. Worse than us. Them in navan ? In hindsight I'd have us beating them so not 50/50 in that regard. They are worse than we are.

Weakest all ire winners in my lifetime, and 7 departures. They are on a mess.

At this stage would prefer to play one of the higher ranked teams especially if we they get a home draw ( or is it neutral venue). I feel the reaction or bounce should have come against Dublin, after the poor form in league and not much better against Wicklow. Surely, if the passion and will to win is there the sight of the blue jersey should have brought ot out? We seem to be pinning our hopes on getting a reaction for quite a while now, maybe it will come next game, however, after Sunday its not looking good.
