Thats a tough question where there are so many variables as you mention. Other than that i suggest that unless substancial effort has been devoted to working on, and repairing the long standing shortcomings then it will be more of the same meaning no real progress. That for me will be the only focus.Who played and where they played at this point is a bit like listing the "also rans"in racing. No disrespect to the players ! Anyway best of luck to all!

Very hard to say how it will go v Galway. They,by the look of it are missing a few players as well.Midfield is a worry for me no Jones or Menton big losses but it does give someone else a chance so fingers crossed they can take it.its going to be a dogfight this year in division 2,teams will knock points off each other so even if we were to lose the weekend there is no need to panic. On paper(the head) I see it being close enough but Galway maybe edging it with the home crowd behind them but my heart will always say Meath no matter what.Meath 1-14 Galway 2-10.

Seamus Lavin has taken a year out, Michael Newman retired and Fionn Reilly apparently gone back to Italy to play soccer other than that i dunno who else there is.

I'd knock Andy for plenty but saying there's been walk outs already this year is a stretch

That's what I was thinking! Actually heard there was a great mood around training and the squad ! Jaysus, if you were basing it on that - james O'Donoghue, Kerry - Kevin Mcmanamon, Dublin etc...

The team ? Midfield is the concern. Got to say thought we had it sort of sorted with menton and Jones. Both injured creates a big problem , we will have a pairing unused to playing there at county level. I suspect it will be two of mcentee, harnan Devine Costello. Keeper will be hogan,

Looking like Galway have injury issues in the backline so if we can get fast ball into the likes of Morris, Conlon, Walsh we could do some real damage there. Really need to quicken our movement of the ball when on the counter attack, running into empty channels and playing it backwards has been an ongoing issue

The red haired diver from Kerry is tipping Galway and Donegal to "break" into the top tier, I thought Donegal were already there…Armagh also a team on the up.
Come on …lads….prove him wrong.

It's Friday and I'm feeling good. Meath turn over Galway on their home patch on by 2/4 points.

Hearing 4 of their starting backs out.

When did we last beat Galway in Salthill? I seem to remember our last game there, we went miles ahead at half time only for us to collapse in the second half and scrape a draw.
We've been on the receiving end of some big losses there over the years if memory serves.

Joe Sheridan last game before he was due to travel was all the talk that day if I remember correctly. The second half collapses was a signature thing during that time. Now if we down 2/3 at halftime I'd be confident of gaining a result. Those days we could be 6 to 10 up and I'd be sh1tin meself that it wasn't enough to sustain the inevitable collapse.

Jeez that was 2009. Nearly 13 years ago. You Need to move on! In fairness Galway are bursting with potential and Would be a good bet to have a good year. Our record against them down in Galway is very poor. I would be amazed if we get anything out if Sunday. Hope springs enternal tho!

Hugely important game, a result of any kind would be a great start to the campaign. Galway are missing a few but have good youthful players coming up too so not sure how much a loss they will feel. As always a good start is imperative as is controlling our own game, less mistakes and giving away cheap ball are key aims as is taking chances when they present, it's potentially going to be a bit windy over the weekend along the western coast and in Salthill that could make it the ultimate definition of a game of two halves, we shall have to wait and see. Anyway it's my first journey from Donegal to a Meath match in almost two years, ironically also against Galway in Navan, so delighted to be just back on the road again, hope springs eternal.
