Replying To brian:  "ratlag, not having a go at you here but Andy has been the manager for 6 years, if he hadn't brought players in during that time it would be a very sad state of affairs. I wouldn't give a manager credit for bring in a player that's their role. Get the best players onto the pitch. We've had a big improvement in our underage structure in the last 5 or so years so those players all earned the right to be brought through. And there's more coming from the minors of 2020 and 2021. Giving Andy or any other manager credit for that is misplaced in my opinion. Its not as if any of those players weren't on the radar already. Has he gone out and found a Brian Stafford, John McDermott or Paeder Byrne, lads that no one had previously looked at like Boylan did. If he had then definitely i would give him credit for that but he hasn't done that.

In regards to the keeper position whilst i would agree Hogan should be the no 1 for this year I wouldn't be convinced Andy will start him come league time. Andy has repeatedly gone back to Colgan. Surely Wednesday or this weekends game should be a chance to look at Billy Hogan and see what we have there or give Harry more game time as he's only played about 3/4 matches for Meath and we'll need to give him more chances. We all know what Colgan is and isn't so surely should've allowed someone else game time."
Why do you keep mentioning Peader Byrne? particularly in the same breath as Brian Stafford and John mcdermott......sort of waters down your argument alot ti be honest.... hard to take it seriously with stuff like that.

All lads that didn't play underage that Sean boylan found from going and watching club matches. Guys that weren't ear marked for success at a young age. Andy hasn't brought anyone like that through. Dunno what your problem with Byrne is, never a top class player but worked his arse off and kept himself included under several other managers after Boylan

A 5 point victory v the team that the doom merchants on here were at pains to point out time and time again during the week put 6 goals past Laois. So obviously now by their logic because of this 1 good result we are now absolutely brilliant and are in for a really successful season. Great stuff.

More coherent tonight, Morris hickey and banty when he came on we're all very good as was Costello. Shane walsh was all over the pitch. Which I don't know is using him to his best.
One thing can anyone tell me why hogan ket coming up field for Wexford kick outs ? I hadn't seen anything like that before. I have a theory that it was so the opposition gk would kick the ball the far side which presumably was our stronger side. Could be completely wrong just thought it strange. That been said looking forward to Galway. Would have liked another match before then.

The keeper coming up the Field for opposition kick outs is becoming more common. I've seen Morgan and Beggan do it and also the Kerry keeper a couple of seasons ago do it v Dublin and Cluxton. An interesting tactic.

12pt second half was encouraging, while the first half we only scored 1-3 Morris did blast the post from a penalty and James mcentee should have scored too, banty has looked electric in both games and will surely start against Galway in 2 weeks. Hopefully that jordan morris injury is nothing serious I thought he was looking very dangerous.

Much better performance Saturday evening. Still a few things that are concerning and will not help against a better team than Wexford. 1-3/ 4 scores in a half of football is not going to help. Still lack a fetcher at midfield to win clean possession. Hogan had 2 poor kick outs in the first half but made up for one with a save off the resultant attack.

Third quarter great to see the number of scores in that period something which to Andy's credit they seem to always get right coming out of the half. It would be great to see them get it right from the start of a match every so often as better teams exploit the slow starts we make.. Mayo, Kildare and Dublin last year and Laois on Wednesday.

I'd love to see Shane Walsh staying closer to goal and working in tandem with Jordan Morris or Banty. We always seem to leave two smaller players inside and teams who leave three back always beat our two.

Interestingly in this group i think every match was won by the home team.

I was in Navan yesterday. Well done to Trim. I have one question. Well actually it is one question then a few follow up questions .

What is the Aaron Lynch situation ?

Is he gonna be brought in when Trim are done?

If not why not?

Is it a management decision that they feel he is not worth trying?

Or is it the lads decision himself and he has no interest in going in as is quite possible these days because of the huge commitment it takes.

I'd love to get some clarity on this as I am sure we all would .

If he is going in once Trim are done then fantastic , If he is not interested then so be it we move on and If it's a management decision not to bring him in and try him then it's a terrible call .

Whole heartedly believe James Toher also would walk into the current Meath team, of course we know the situation with Andy Mc so that won't happen but he has stood out aswell with Aaron Lynch in every single game Trim have played this year.

Well obviously he won't be going in until Trim are out of the club championship, thats the same with any club team that goes on a provincial/All Ireland run. It was the same when my own club Ratoath won Leinster in 2015, we had a number of county players that didn't go back to county until Feb of that year because of the club commitments. I'd imagine he will definitely have been asked in given his scoring form in Intermediate, but you have to also bare in mind, that the Standard of intermediate football in Meath isn't high at all so the jump to senior county will be difficult.
I'd love to have seen him in O Byrne cup to give him a taste for it, its risky enough trying him out in the league unless he is tearing it up in trainings but we will just have to wait and see

I know he wouldn't be going in until Trim are finished thats why I asked the question will he be going in after they are finished .

Also you would imagine he will be brought in. Thats why i was asking does anyone actually know his situation . We can all speculate .

And absolutely you are 100 % right that the jump from meath intermediate football to senior county football so there is no guarantee he will be up to it but if he wants to go in then he definitely should be brought in and given a chance. If it doesn't work out and he's not good enough then so be it but at least we know .

Don't agree here, he was tried before and was way out of his depth, no where near the standard needed for county football. As I said above its very easy to stand out in a poor standard of football which intermediate in Meath is and while I've no doubt that he is a decent club player he just simply isn't good enough for county.

I agree that James Toher would be very good for the Meath footballers, as he was in 2017. This won't suit your agenda but Andy Mcentee and Gerry McEntee were big fans of Toher and wanted him to stay with the footballers. Toher tried to combine both hurling and football in 2018 but when the league fixtures were released for that season, Meath hurling and football matches were scheduled for the same weekend, making it impossible to do both. As Toher is a hurling man through and through he wanted to stay with the hurlers, who were pushing strongly in the Joe McDonagh at the time. If I were Andy I would he trying to get Toher to commit to football this year as I think the hurlers have hit their sealing and will be doing very well to stay in Joe McDonagh this year. He should give football another crack while age is on his side.

Everyone here shouting for Lynch to be brought in. Who does he replace, Morris,Banty, O'Sullivan, the two Wallaces. The problem is we have to many lads of a similar ability and size vying for the same positions. In my opinion we need to find some forwards with a bit of size and mobility. Walsh has size but lacks the mobility.

He done an interview with We are Meath after one of the games and said he'd definitely be interested and he played 17's (won a Leinster) and 20's with Meath so should be no issue regarding commitment if he is asked which I can only assume he has been given how well he's been playing
