Sad to see the best Senior team in Meath in the past 5 years go out of the championship tonight. Atleast they have their Keegan cups to look back on.....oh wait I mean Feis cups and leagues. BigJoe14 (Meath) - Posts: 997 - 09/10/2021 19:11:48 2385052 Link 2 |
The most consistent team in Meath saving themselves for a right cut at next years Feis Cup and A Leagues. Fair play Kells..... Blackspot09 (Meath) - Posts: 1003 - 09/10/2021 19:12:00 2385053 Link 3 |
Feis Cup and A League is where its at anyway. Everyone in Kells know that

Outperforming?? They took the lead with five minutes to go against 14 men after trailing the majority of the game. They were second best all game and couldn't hold a lead with 2 minutes to go. They didn't deserve to win the game end of

I saw they were missing a couple of lads alright through injury , McGill looked like arm was in a bad way (discolated or broken??) , so he will be a doubt for Semi if thats the case? . . its a pity more didnt walk off in this apparent Bust up or else we could be heading to Semis!! After watching all the teams involved Id have Dunboyne as Favs at the minute . . Apart from Jones getting injured they seem to have a full bill of health and are flying summerhillof69 (Meath) - Posts: 228 - 11/10/2021 09:16:33 2385182 Link 0 |
Haha - what a load of bull! Ratoath were missing Eamon Wallace and Ben Wyer from their normal starting line up and both were at the game supporting! Wallace had a boot brace on! They don't look to be playing as well as 2019 or 2020 but they are still in a semi final! Dunboyne look to be in the best form of the 4 teams remaining - the first round draw has served as a kick in the ass for them!! A great weekend of club football. Possibly the end of this Kells team. They brought something different to the championship with their edge and rabid supporters. I admire them in a lot of ways but given how much complaining was done about their lack of county representation it's not surprising really how people are sticking the knife in. They're a bit like Mayo, a crushing final in 2017 knocked the stuffing out of Mayo and it took an influx of new players to get them competing again. Do Kells have those young players coming. It isn't an obvious influx like Don Ash/St Colmcilles/Ratoath/Dunboyne have got but maybe they can unearth a few. Championship is beautifully poised now. Ratoath and Dunboyne the favs in their semi finals. But Tones and Don/Ash are live underdogs and injuries to county men for Ratoath and Dunboyne maybe reduces the gap. Another very interesting weekend in 4 weeks time LeitrimRoyal99 (Meath) - Posts: 1523 - 11/10/2021 10:53:45 2385203 Link 11 |
4 weeks time, christ why do we always drag the **** out of things? Surely this should be played in two weeks with final in four tops. Think you're right re Kells. Carry Lynch, Beano, Barret, Curran and the Tormeys are all 35+ at this stage (i believe) and have served the club admirably but its time for Kells to turn this team over to younger hands. And even at that some of their next batch of players are fast approaching 30 too in Mattimoe, Ferguson and a few others. A very good club team without a real superstar. brian (Meath) - Posts: 1973 - 11/10/2021 11:41:47 2385214 Link 9 |
Two interesting semi finals ahead. Both favourites potentially missing some vital players with both underdogs (as far as I know) pretty much at full strength. Wasn't at the game yesterday, but sounded like a well ground out victory for us. Ratoath Royal (Meath) - Posts: 1374 - 11/10/2021 11:56:48 2385219 Link 15 |
I meant 2 weeks time, there isn't another 4 week break thankfully

Good initiative by the GAA/LGFA to hold the two finals on the same date, at the same location. Pity that sentiment didn't follow through to the semi finals in both codes - which are both on at the same time…at different locations!!! Good assessment I think Ashbourne play with a lot of men behind the ball so I think you are right it will take time for Dunboyne to break them down. The Caveat I would have here - is is Don/Ash get an early goal and a lead - they may sit back even tighter and make it even harder for Dunboyne. If Dunboyne get ahead early and Don/Ash have to come at them, I think you are right that the Dunboyne forwards and Lenihan in particular could reap hay! I think Dunboyne will win this - pulling away in the last quarter. The loss of McGill is a big one for Ratoath and I am hearing Meath Under 20, Ben Wyer is also out which stretches their full back line further. This could be a cracker and we could see goals at both ends. You have mentioned 4 of the Ratoath forwards but Rooney and Rogers also score well so I think Ratoath might have a few more options! The big thing will be mid field - whoever wins that battle could come out on top. Ben McGowan is hardly ever mentioned in these posts but is a real key in Ratoath's success - I fancy Ratoath - just!! Well done Curraha. That's really thrown the cat amongst the pigeons in the relegation battle. Ratoath Royal (Meath) - Posts: 1374 - 22/10/2021 21:44:10 2386896 Link 14 |
Not a classic, but Dunboynes forwards eventually wear down Don/Ash RR (Meath) - Posts: 165 - 23/10/2021 17:53:38 2387022 Link 0 |
Brutal game of football, Cathal Finn and Gavin McCoy really stood out for Dunboyne but it was a painful game to watch.

Brutal it was, i can just about understand in a david v goliath scenario where the weaker team adopts this tactic in fear of being overwhelmed but i cannot understand how a team like Dunboyne feel they need to do this, poor poor stuff for spectators to endure

Well done to Tones today! The better team for sure on the day! Ratoath were good champions but injuries certainly impacted them but Tones certainly had the measure of them today!
