Super to see a plan for club players to get back and some normality back into their lives . Not too sure if supporters will get back to matches for a while though maybe Late July ? Did anyone hear about this ?

Plans are being discussed about a pilot scheme for the return of fans from July 5.

Some league fixtures would be nice first.... competition starts in 2 weeks and teams have no idea who they are playing... you would think PR side of things in the county would want to get a bit of excitement going for players and supporters

A good call. Kells vs Ashbourne, Simonstown vs Ratoath and Dunboyne vs Summerhill probably the pick of the bunch for round 1 in the Feis

I've heard the 9th which is a Wednesday and then they'll be going midweek every week after that to avoid clashes with premier championship

Thanks for that, heard that also,
But would have thought their be times and venues at this stage if a week away.

Yeah they really should have them sorted. Only 9 days away and they need to give clubs some notice so they can sort out their crowds with only a max of 100 allowed

Does the max of 100include the players from each team , say 25 each with 7 subs allowed the officials say 5 , the management say 5 each , physio say 2 . covid officers say 2 and 5 more for committee

50 + 5+ 10 + 2 + + 5 = 72ish

So that leaves around 30 spectactators

Get your tickets early !!!!

Yeah this is very good news, 100 spectators along with teams, stewards etc will make a big difference for club league games. Hope everything goes well and it increases to 200 in July.

Maybe this has already been covered but wondering why each of the first group of football fixtures are being held midweek? Meath is quite a big county and to ask a club player working in Dublin to travel to places like Drumcondrath or St. Brigids for games on Wednesday nights is a big ask. Alot of the decision makers must assume that everyone is either working from home or off for the summer and have been somehow waiting around for the last 9 months for these fixtures. This will force club players to train on weekends now. This might force club players to opt out from playing after such a long lay off.

I think that going forward the hurling cups and premier championships are at weekends so the Feis cup will be midweek all the way through to avoid clashes

I'd taken it as a given that any half serious club football and hurling team in the county is training at weekends anyway?

Regarding the fixtures, when the hurling and lower grades are taken into account, there wouldn't be enough time to play every game on a weekend. Realistically it's not that big an issue anyway; clubs have 5 guaranteed Cup games, at most 3 of which will be away, and you'd need to be very unlucky for even 2 of those away games to be the far end of the county. Are players really stepping away because they're inconvenienced for one or two games this summer?
