Guys Who Had One Or Two Years And Then Disgarded

Saw a topic on the national forum and thought it might be interesting to discuss here. Who are some of the players that were involved that had one or a couple of good years and were then discarded or dropped off the panel. The names that come to mind for me straight away are from RoyalDunne's much beloved Ballinabrackey. Chris O'Connor - appeared from almost nowhere in the 2007 1/4 final v Tyrone, had a great game and held his spot for a couple of years and then seemed to just disappear. He's still doing it for the bracks at club level the whole time so dunno how he was never given another chance Damian Carroll - Got a chance under Banty (thanks in most part to John Evans) and then MOD seemed to turf him out when he came in. Very good and strong centre forward but the face didn't seem to fit under MOD. I would consider Alan Nestor and Alan Forde as guys who were more effected by injuries and illness so probably wouldn't fit into the area of being discarded or dropped. A maybe controversial one but Eamon Wallace was absolutely unplayable in 2013 as a 19 year old and hasn't really got back to those levels since for Meath. Yeah thats a fair point. Himself and Michael Newman both got all star nominations that year i believe. Type of player we don't have. He's been asked back too but just doesn't have the interest in playing county football. Texted that he no longer needed/wanted him , played brilliantly for bracks that year after been dropped, selectors said he needed to be brought back mod said he was good defender but went upfield too much and was too slow for the new Meath. Carroll's demise started when he questioned training methods. That was the end of him. Maybe mod didn't like players from bracks ? Mick Ahern badly mistreated by mgmt , Bided his time and was apprentice to Murphy Got 1 opportunity and Never got a chance after that and I Seen first hand that he was completely disillusioned with the set up and fell out of love with the game . . Cathal O Dwyer - I dont I think need to say anymore about this man, he would be a superstar if he played now . . Sometimes it's all about timing and taking your opportunity and possibly some luck too. On the subject of providing Administrators and Referees to Meath, perhaps we had to shoulder more than our share because other clubs wouldn't, yours especially. You seem to be more interested in fighting with each other, and stirring it, than helping to administrate the Association in Meath. Very wrong considering he played his best for ratoath in 2019 when they won the keegan and subsequently doesn't get played by the meath manager . lots of players including Seamus mattimoe/eamon/Andrew tormay/damo carroll are surpassed by a flawed system in meath where a manager is picking a team based on if they have an S and C degree and not if they can play football. Go to a club game and you will see the best players on the pitch are not in the county starting team. The question is whether Andy is correct in his assessment or not....and the reality is we wont know until either someone else comes in and a Player thrives under that new Manager or that players shoots the lights out in Club as you suggest with EWallce in 2013 ….remember Andy had Eamonn as a Minor...so he bludy well has a view I can tell you on what Eamonn can or cant bring to the party To mention another Players ...O Coialiean of Navan. Kind of going off topic here but the clubs have a bit to answer in terms of the GK issue. How many club keepers do keeper specific training or do they just spend 10-15 mins every session pumping balls as far as possible off a tee and then stand in goals when the rest of the lads are practising shots. In my not to distant past playing days that was the story of our sessions and that with a GK running the show. In my opinion thats why there is not a massive crop to pick from.
