We need to start talking about how we can actually beat Dublin at the weekend. We need to cut out the nonsense talk about Meath players getting on dublin players etc
I believe the 3 ways Meath can beat Dublin
1. Win individual battles. We need to man mark their danger men. Fenton needs to be followed everywhere, a Meath man touch tight on all occasions.
2. Tackle and give it everything. Don't give Dublin time to settle on the ball. Put in a big shoulder in first 5 mins, let them know they're in a game
3. Target man. Dublin full back line is suspect, use the Croke park space. Wet greasy ball aswell, launch it in on top of Cluxton early and it'll send fear throughout Dublin. They don't like playing against route one teams

Haven't seen it in about 10 years but don't let facts get in way of a good story..

Replying To MillerX: "You may have mentioned it and I may have missed it, but do you not think that Daragh Campion should be on this team? Like he is on the fringes and ALL successful Meath teams had a Skryne man on board. But only if history is important. After all the 1987/88 teams bucked the previous trend with no Ballivor man on board. So I am starting a campaign to bring Paddy Connelly, Ballivor's outstanding centre half back on to the team, and thereby keeping up a now lost tradition of No 6s from Ballivor. Next year they might send in a goalkeeper, just for tradition's sake." I always thought Campion would make a very good centre back. No disrespect to S McEntee but at centre back he is getting a huge amount of pressure free possession and creativity. Would love to see Campion on the ball in that part of the pitch with that much space to see what he'd do with it.

99 - Ollie Murphy 96 - Martin O'Connell 88/87 - Ferguson, O'Connell, Gillic, Stafford
Stop talking rubbish, so long as the best 21 players take to the pitch it doesn't matter whether they're from Skryne, Kells, Pakistan or Kathmandu. They're Meath players who deserve our full support. Simple as that.

Is this a serious suggestion of how to take on the best team to ever play the game or is it a game plan that was mainly used in the 1980's and 90's. And still a popular tactic for Junior North Meath teams that usually ends up for them in a savage beating on the scoreboard.

Make sure the balls are well pumped up before the game and all the lads bring gloves preferably Mikasa as its likely to be wet. If they can have a steak in the middle of the day and stand on their mans toes before throw in. Backs to be told bust out through their man with the ball at all times and ball to be drop-kick driven into the full forward from 80 yards. Any messing around and there will be subs brought in.

Yes but junior North Meath teams don't care about the beating on the scoreboard, it's the handing out of the beatings on the pitch they're interested in!!! :)

North Meath is north of Navan... places like Syddan, Drumbarragh, Oldcastle, Castletown and Mordor itself, Cortown. The kind of places where it's always lashing rain and you can barely stay upright since the pitch is invariably a sloppy quagmire ... perfect conditions for late shoulders and sneakey fists and elbows and since no visiting fans can make it up there and the weather so bad, there are no witnesses. They say that Cortown always leave one opponent without a concussion, so he can remember what happened and spread the message back home..."yer in North Meath now so ye arrrr" :)

They're all Meath, doesn't matter if its the Monaghan border around Drumconrath/ Meath Hill or the Offaly border in ballinabrackey. They're all Meath men and women. No better or worse.

I know a good few of the Cortown lads and they're a fine community club (albeit i think they should amalgamate with some of the other local clubs but I won't go there). They had a very good team around mid to late 00s and they were the club equivalent of the 80s Meath team, hard as nails and you'd want to be well up for it physically and mentally to be beat them. The same could be said of Cuthberts as well at underage in the years previously who were very successful.

I'm just sick of this bull about north meath.
Funny thing is i'm of the vintage that i played schools and underage with many of the players on that Cortown and Cuthberts underage teams.
