I give up!, all I did was ask the question of what evidence does he think that Meath will get close to Dublin?, I also asked what Meath player would make the Dublin team?, his reply Good Lad........

Anyway see it as you like, let him continue to smoke whatever he's on, it's obviously making him delusional

Look I dont think anyone hear honestly thinks were better then dublin and fair enough not many meath lads would make dublins starting fifteen, but what royaldunne and many others are saying if meath play to there potential and get every break going then who knows, it could be one of them great days that we'll always remember, will it happen probably not but as fans we can dare to dream, I wonder will you be happy if dublin do hammer meath so you can come back on here and gloat about how right you are, because if your one of them then that's sad.

I will never be happy with Meath getting beaten and I will most certainly not gloat. I'm just at a loss to think that some think we can rattle the Dubs when the evidence simply is not there to suggest that we can.

I'm not responding to the poster you are. But royallegend I'll say this. I will never admit defeat before a ball is kicked. And may I add if Dublin has put 5!goas on Kildare and we had scored only 2 against say Laois and none v Westmeath some on here would be saying we no good, there's no pleasing some people

YES.....play to full potential....thats a win for us for now....let the result take care of itself......your right who knows if playing to full potential and getting the breaks what can happen??? BUT to play to full potential we have to learn from previous mistakes. Thats the frustration the proof of this learning is not evident after a prolonged time KICKOUT STRATEGY.......FREETAKING.......FIELDING...(a midfielder cannot catch a ball with 1 hand only) PLAYER MOVEMENT to help goalkeeper options etc. etc. These are all clearly our weaknesses. WHY are these still so obvious to the man in the street. NO agenda .i still want ANDY and co to stay to achieve the target of full potential. Best of luck in doing so !!!

Sure why bother playing any of the remaining Matches just give the All Ireland's to Dublin & Limerick and call it a day, at that rate you would have given the Munster Title to Kerry?

And if I may add royallegend you are a fantastic supporter and poster. Don't think we give enough credit to those who are not afraid to put out the unpopular view.
It's hard to believe that the majority of posters/ fans from outside Meath (And a few within ) actually want Dublin to win 10 in a row. I guess we really did do over a fair few county's. And you know what. When we do beat them , let that be Saturday or another year. We will **ing enjoy it. And rub the begrudgers noses in it.
Hon the royal

From the start, I don't think we'll win. But I think we have a much better chance of keeping the scoreline respectable than I did just a few months ago. However, we won't do so if we defend the way we did yesterday. We gave Kildare forwards a stupid amount of space, especially in the first half. Contrast to how we hassled and harried for large parts of the league game against Dublin last month.
Dublin weren't great in the first half yesterday so we'll need to capitalise on that if it occurs again and not freeze up front like we did last year. However, it looks like both Mannion and Costello will be back for Dublin which is a big blow to our chances.

It's been 8 years since any Leinster side has kept Dublin within a score. It would be an exceptional achievement if we can even get close to doing that.

Well In fairness we gave them a rattle 3 weeks ago and lost out by 4 and got to within 1 and missed two goals chances. That wasn't an under strength Dublin side.

Yes different animal in the championship and croker but to say no evidence when we got on top of them for periods of the game and created 3 glorious goal chances a few weeks ago is a bit silly.

I think that this game on Saturday is a really important game for Meath and also Leinster football. Ross Munnelly from Laois probably bowed out yesterday and was the only non-dub still playing to have a Leinster championship medal.

I don't know the exact numbers but I believe that 9 in a row Leinster football titles is unprecedented by any county in any province. When you consider that Dublin have won 14 out of the last 15 championships and a win this weekend would bring them to 15 out of 16 and the full decade 2011 to 2020 you are starting to get to the levels of domination of the sport that people would say why bother anymore?

I know that I may get castigated for saying it but there must be a stage where a sporting competition is no longer deemed viable if the same team continues to win ad infinitum. Don't get me wrong, some of my greatest life experiences have been Meath Dublin games but, say Dublin win the next 5 or 9 of the next 10 when do we say its all pointless?

I know our minors beat the dubs a few weeks ago and Kildare have been very competitive at under age but, after Meath and Kildare there is nothing in the province. So, I am really hoping for a good showing at the weekend and that its competitive and still all to be played for in the last quarter.

Meath and the rest of Leinster need something to build on or I think a serious relook at provincial championships and move to some sort of a geographic split of teams.

I think we all saying the same thing....we are entering this game with a little bit more optimism than we have had for a number of years , that we are not blinded by the issues that have been a thorn for 2-3 years now...ie protection of our own kick-outs , but that we will be beaten . that is not to say anyone is wishing for it, nor is it saying that none of us will be dreaming about the alternative...its just a reflection of who we facing, and if the dream were to come thru , it would be all the more amazing…..to suggest that anyone who says we will most likely be beaten is somehow disloyal , is way over the top

I was positive enough about next Saturday until I heard Cian Ward's review of Meath's performance - he's an excellent pundit so I respect his opinion. Basically he was of view that it was our worst performance since Longford.

I didn't hear it. But it probably was our worst display since that game. That been said I would say Kildare would beat Longford, and unlike the Longford game , we won. It's a old soccer cliche I think about winning playing bad, we won ugly yesterday, I don't think we have done that in a long time. Also when was the last time we were down by six and turn it around??
That's where I'm holding my confidence, that and in general we have been playing better in games than we were when Longford game happened, I'd call it more of a off day (hopefully) than a trend. If that makes sense.
I still give us a chance, the reason been that we stuck to the plan, same as we did v Wicklow when game was well over , and Monaghan too and even v Dublin. If there was one trend I am extremely worried about it's not getting into tempo of game quickly enough. The slow starts are killing us, same as last year in the super 8s.

We see the same on here year after year, unless you surrender to the notion that Meath will somehow produce a preformance from nowhere you will be shouted down by a small minority, with absolutly nothing to back up their claims, in reality since Dublin beat us in Leinster Final last year we beat Clare by one point then lost our three super 8 games. Managed one draw in division one. Beat a very poor Wicklow and were let off the hook by a clueless Kildare, I,m all for a bit of optism and will, as always, be fully behind Meath when we take the field Saturday. Having a realistic view does not make you any less of a Meath supporter.

I have a rule when playing Dublin. If you can say HONESTLY we are 3 points better than Dublin going into the game then your in with a chance. Because Dublin playing in Croke Park is worth at least points to them.
Honestly I think Dublin are probably 7 points better us, that's been a bit conservative.
So that's a 10 point swing for me. We are going to need a shed luck.
I think its possible. But unlikely.
the areas we need to improve in are well flagged:

1: Kicks need to improve beyond belief, I would actual take 50% if I got it now.
2: Cant afford a slow start. we cant see this happening we just love making things hard for ourselves
3: Midfield we need to be more competitive here again I would take 50% here again.
4: Defense We need to be ultra tight here. And the golden rule against Dublin NO GOALS.

And finally lets hope for a miracle. We are going to beat Dublin eventfully maybe not Saturday, Maybe not in the next year either but it is coming. We will beat at some stage. So why not Saturday :)

And the same old arguments start again:
Type 1: "This is the year, if we get stuck into them, give them a rattle we can win"
Response: " Your delusional"

Type 2: "Dublin are to strong and will win comfortably by 7+"
Response: " You'd only love that so you can come back on and gloat, some Meath supporter you are"

Jesus lads change the record.

That facts are that Dublin are still the strongest and best team in the country, and until they are beaten that isnt changing. They are still stronger than Meath in almost every department as they have shown over the last 5 years or so.

BUT

There is a quiet optimism about this Meath team that hasn't been there for almost a decade.
We are now a 70+ minute team fitness wise and have finished the last 4 games extremely strongly.
We have a bench that make a serious impact in every game which we haven't had this decade, which all top teams have had (Example in chief, the Dubs we are now facing)
We seem to be taking goal chances and this is a must if we are to have any hope of competing with Dublin, let alone beating them.

Personally I think this will be a tight game, similar to the league game and if we take our goal chances who knows what might happen, but lads on here need to take a chill pill in attacking each other for having different points of views.

Side comment on a previous comment about who from the Meath team makes the Dublin one:
Cluxton
Murchen
McGill
Fitzsimons
J Small
McCarthy
Keoghan
Fenton
Menton
Howard
Kilkenny
O Sullivan/Scully
Rock
O Callaghan
Mannion

Couldn't agree more I would not say disloyal, I don't expect to win but I certainly think there is evidence we could give them a rattle, that's the only point I think was a bit off the mark to say none
