Inter Champ 2020

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Looking forward to the start of this comp! Will the condensed season suit some teams more than others?? Big win for Trim this weekend setting them up nicely to avenge their no show in the final last year. Winner of the first round game between them and Rathkenny will have a foot in the semi final and a big say in where Mattie sets up camp for the winter!

The usual trim or Oldcastle, rathkenny or ballinabrackey all in with a shout, should be a good competition, dark horses I'd say castletown or Dunderry to make the final but will probably do mayo and just fall short, altough the year that's in it with liverpool and Leeds winning could make it even more unbearable

Colmcilles ?
Castletown might struggle to make an impact like last year. Bracks playing Division 1 will help them. Methinks Rathkenny be the ones to come out on top.

Not just in reference to inter but having seen the article on attendance caps. The limit is 200. Both teams get 32 for players, manager, selector, physio etc. So that's 64. Then 55 tickets per club. That's 174. That leaves 26. The ref, two linesman and two umpires is 5. 6 if there's a standby ref/4th official. That leaves 20 tickets left. Who are these going to? One writer from the chronicle fair enough, maybe a photographer although not necessary. Then two lads at the gate sure there'll hardly be a need for stewards to police a crowd of 200 in a decent sized venue. Seems like tickets have been reserved for county board people to me, if anybody has any other theories I'd be happy to know

They will be in the relegation battle now most definitely.
Watched the game Vs bective on their page as our club will be playing them next. Seemed much faster and in control of the game for the majority over a poor looking bective team yet somehow had a shocking last ten minutes. Will cost them dearly now coming up against trim and rathkenny can't see them avoiding at least a relegation battle.

A man up and 8 points up they should not be getting beaten by a poor bective team. No score n the last 30 minutes ?

Must be very deflated in Drumbaragh this morning

Not a great start to your castletown and dunderry predictions....... castletown have gone back so much in the space of a year, didn't see dunderry but they must be in the same boat

Nobber will end up being one of the worst teams to come up from intermediate to senior, you'll find that with alot of North meath teams actually, all spoof and no proof.

Massive win for Trim in IFC over Rathkenny. They could be favorites now but will need to avoid any complacency as they found out last year.

Some interesting results from this weekends games: Got to watch two games this weekend myself and they where two really enjoyable games to watch.

Rathkenny 0-10 vs 3 - 8 trim
What was meant to be a close game involving two of the favourites turned into a fairly one sided match with trims ability to find the net main difference. I was really impressed with trims clinical play up front and in aaron lynch and eoin o connor they have two players that will be a handful for most full back lines. Rathkenny didnt help themselves in this front as they left there full back line way to exposed and trims tactic of early long ball caused trouble all game long which produced most of there goals. I still feel that the trim defence is there achilles heel and wont be good enough to win the championship once they come up against more all round attacks later in the championship. There go to man marker is Ger Dwane and yesterday keith curtis gave him a tough time scoring a number of magnificent points including one where he done the defender with a savage dummy solo. I was really disappointed with rathkenny in general apart from keith curtis and caillach halligan i felt the rest of the team player well below bar including brian meade, keoghan, mcgarry. Trim where impressive it must be said and they play a nice bland of attacking football but still feel they can be caught out at the back

Syddan 1-11 vs 2-5 oldcastle
This was a great game to watch that had a bit of everything from super individual scores, good team moves, serious passion shown from both sides, black, red and yellow cards and a nerve reckon finish. Most people gave this syddan side no chance of getting a victory over a very fancied oldcastle side but they where the better team throughout the game and the two goals kept oldcastle in the game when syddan where starting to pull away. It was a game of passion and intensity from start to finish with a number of incidents and scraps througout the game along with tension running high within the crowd as well. Syddans defence done well throughout the game and were well organised and dealt very well with the likes of jason scully, robbie farrelly and paddy gilsean. One aspect of there game that was really good was there ability to keep possession and manage the game well especially when they were down to 14 men for the last quarter. Hunger and desire was the big difference as this syddan side showed more determination and passion than the oldcastle side. There were a few good performances from both sides with the likes of daire rowe, kevin traynor, michael fedigan, ryan summersby and andrew garland playing well for davy cahills men. Oldcastle didnt have as many good performances but cj healy, paddy rahill, darren hawdon played well. This group is the one to keep an eye out for as all the games are ultra competitive and wouldnt be surprised if this years winners came from this group as all the games are gonna be played at a serious intensity.

Anyone at:
Blackhall vs Castletown
Kilmainham vs dunderry

Two really surprising results in that group anyone able to fill us in on the performances of both teams??

Was at the kilmainham game they where very good well worth the victory defended very well and young Morgan up front was brilliant scored with the advanced mark a few times. Dunderry spurned a few opportunities with alot of the ball but on the balance of play the right team won.
