Blindly optimistic here but i think we could turnover Galway as they've never done well in Navan. brian (Meath) - Posts: 1973 - 27/02/2020 13:12:59 2270481 Link 8 |
I think royaldunne is right, we should always be confident at home and have a good record against galway in navan, even though we lost against kerry we put in a decent performance and could of won if it warnt for the black cards and the impact of Tommy Walsh when he came off the bench, we should have shane Walsh and Donal lenihan back to so we have more options up front then we did have, I think we have a good chance anyway and hopefully the wee bit of luck can go our way for a change. Meath by two points.

I wouldn't be so sure we're guaranteed a win. And don't call me Shirley. CastleBravo (Meath) - Posts: 1664 - 27/02/2020 13:56:06 2270490 Link 19 |
That's my view too.

"We should be confident at home and always do well against galway in navan" are they the only reasons you think we will beat them ??? And also do you know exactly what is wrong with Shane Walsh to be able to say he should be back ??? southmeathgael (Meath) - Posts: 937 - 27/02/2020 15:25:47 2270507 Link 19 |
Think we will win, should have beat Kerry away which is a harder ask than beating Galway at home. Few returnees so I'm confident. Won't probably do us any good on the relegation front, but need to go down fighting to lay foundations for championship.

Home advantage, good recent form against them, and we performed well against kerry in our last game, are they not good enough reasons for ye, as for shane walsh we were told a slight knock kept him out of the two matches at the weekend and I'm hoping as I'm sure you are that he be back for us at the weekend.

Should have beaten Kerry ! We never got within 3 points of them ! As for this Match we have a chance ! Galway disposed of a Tyrone team who put us to the sword ! The lads deserve a win ! Blew it in the mayo game ! Hopefully It happens sunday

Kerry put up 20 scores against Meaths 15. We've had 4 shots at Donegal in last 2 years and havent managed to beat them once. We've shipped some serious losses since last years super 8s and havent managed to win a game yet in division 1. bert09 (Meath) - Posts: 1807 - 27/02/2020 20:50:52 2270566 Link 1 |
We will win at some stage. David (Meath) - Posts: 567 - 27/02/2020 23:59:31 2270590 Link 1 |
No shane Walsh won't be back, along with 8 or so other defenite/ potential starters, which is the main reason we are struggling and will prob struggle again sunday. I hope your right about the result of course, but I don't feel previous results have any bearing on how this will pan out, different personale involved, different form lines etc..... that logic didn't seem to bother westmeath or longford against us recently. And yes we did ok against Kerry, but still were never doing anything other then chasing down a hefty lead, and also if you are using last week's performance as a gauge, Galway weren't to bad either. Again I hope I'm wrong, but nobody in their right mind can logically be going into Sunday's game confident of a win.

I agree with you david, but as mad as this sounds your going to upset allot of meath posters with that positive attitude.

I fully agree this is why we are struggling, altho in fairness performances (bar Donegal) have been good and improving. I think any county in the country missing 8 starters would struggle. I am hopeful of a win this Sunday, while Galway have looked very good I think if we repeat the level of the last 60 mins of the Kerry game and defend that well we will be in with a chance, I am hopeful but not expectant. Meath have been creating goal chances and will need to take 2 if not 3 and continue shooting like we did on Sunday. Thejoeshow (Meath) - Posts: 687 - 28/02/2020 11:45:00 2270653 Link 1 |
Galway are flying but they could easily take us for granted. We will be competitive I think but I couldn't back us to win it LeitrimRoyal99 (Meath) - Posts: 1523 - 28/02/2020 13:30:40 2270679 Link 10 |
Strong wind forecast for Sunday. bert09 (Meath) - Posts: 1807 - 28/02/2020 14:46:09 2270699 Link 0 |
The irony is that while the extent of the result last Sunday in Tuam was somewhat false the performance is not surprising. Galway have the armoury and it has been coming for a while. Unlike some other counties Galway football tends not to 'stick the chest' out on the back of a series of good results. Not in our nature. We could easily as much lose on Sunday and as i noted though on the main forum we have developed very good squad depth. There is a bigger picture with us in that breaking into the top table is the next goal where really only Dublin and probably Kerry occupy spots. This is a natural progression from the structures the previous management put in place in recent years. The current management is embellishing this and putting his own stamp on proceedings. Tribe/Royal battles have been close in the last 15 years so that would point to a close match on Sunday.
