This competition would be better served as the first to be played in the year (is that the plan??) and not as an afterthought. Stipulate that clubs have to play without county players if unavailable. You had the nonsense of Ratoath having to play 2 months after being knocked out of championship having to play a semi final of the tertiary competition. I Think any cup played at this time of year belittles the competition itself. League final nearly 5 or 6 months after last group game. Kildalkey are the only club that takes bd cup serious by the look of things and you can see why as he was a local and thats good to see. But this competition needs to be finished before champ starts in future and to give the competition some credit needs to be neutral venue , its a strange setup is it not? to many walkovers every year from clubs. Mayby there is other cups in other counties that they do the same ? should be played in April maybe thursday evenings , final in early june when mcdonagh cup/ring cup final is on. no need for county players to play this , it should be for the marginal panel members to get games if needs be. yea i think it would be nice to give every hurling club the final each year, if they put in the effort kildalkey do to hosting it. be a nice to give something back to other clubs who participate properly in it, that could be watched during the spring campaign and if teams go the extra mile to make sure the honour fixtures that should be remembered when a final venue is chosen, maybe smaller clubs like Kilskyre, Boardsmill or Killyon could get the final some years dickie10 (UK) - Posts: 685 - 21/11/2019 17:38:59 2250735 Link

The standard of hurling referee in this county is very poor , both teams left frustrated yesterday by some really poor decisions , clear frees going again the person fouled , nearly no contact aloud at times. Ref seamed to pick 3 lads at random from either side after the melee and send them off for the sake of it , was no need at all , just blow the whistle the game was over. clubs will prob get fine now . Wasnt much of a row just pushing etc The few good refs seam to be getting no games this year , mayby they dont want them. You were not at the game so i take it" I didn't need to be. I've just seen it said countless times the years about games I've been at and not been at. The referee is apparently always at fault when someone is sent off. It's either: 1. They shouldn't have sent anyone off at all because it "ruins the game". 2. The referee forced the players to foul and fight by doing his job and blowing for fouls during the game.
