Ratoath with two teams entered is very impressive

Trim big win vs Kildalkey but Ratoath beating Na Fianna was probably a bigger achievement. You would expect the winner of that semi to win the final but you never know these days.

I was at the Na Fianna game. Ratoath got a couple of lucky goals that flattered the scoreline but it was well deserved, but I think Trim after the other night, will be a step too far.
I hear Killyon/Longwood are a good team, could be the ones to beat.
Was anyone at the the Trim game? I expected Kildalkey to give them a very good game and win it to be honest.

Ratoaths seconds had Ashbourne players playing and had managed to scrape 14.. so very lucky to field.

How do you reckon Trim are a step too far if you didn't even see them playing??

I would think Trim should be very Strong, a lot of senior experience and still a big mixture of last years u21/Minor winning sides and this years minor winners too so should be very strong. Can see a repeat of last years minor final on the cards

The match report on Facebook was filled with names from the senior team. Does that suffice for you?

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think trim dominated this level at underage?

Fixtures gods have been kind to Ratoath and that might swing it in their favour.
Trim footballers out on Friday night and again on Sunday am.

So what your saying is Congrats to Ratoath for giving at least 28 (I believe they used 16 in the A game) u21s a game from their own hurling crew and also looking after 2 lads from Ashbourne as well. Credit to the Hurling fraternity in Ratoath. Well done to Ratoath. There are a number of other clubs in the county that could follow the lead and keep guys in hurling.

Exactly, huge credit to Ratoath for promoting both codes from underage all the way through to adult. Themselves and Trim are the only urban areas doing this. The likes of Ashbourne, Navan, Kells, Dunshaughlin (Drumree being their club) and Dunboyne could take a leaf out of their book and see that promoting hurling can actually have a positive effect on your football prospects, not hamper them. Meath GAA need to have a serious look at the situations in these town clubs and rectify this.

Also commend them for fielding for a Brendan Davis Cup game after 2 months knocked out of the championship and they managed to run Kildalkey close.

I agree, just think of it. If those other towns (or even half of them) made the strides that Ratoath and Trim have done imagine how we would be developing in hurling in the county. I know its not easy and perhaps Ratoath have benefited from the influx of new people and Trim have had a core hurling community for many years but I wold love to see those other towns get to that level and, alongside, the already high levels in Kiltale, Na Fianna etc the future of hurling in the county would be very positive.

V impressed with Trim today, I don't think they have a weak link with and are one of the strongest U21s sides I've seen in a long while!
I would expect Killyon/Longwood to be strong on the other side.

I was expecting Ratoath to do well. Who stood out for Trim?

They're a very good collective unit I wouldn't say anyone stood out.
They have a lot of experience in likes of Dwane, Cullen and Dowling alongside the youth of Murray, Quigley and birmingham!
Ratoath scored one point from play...

Went to yesterday's game to see if Ratoath could do to Trim what did they to us in the quarter, and Trim blew them away. Dwane in full back line is a standout player and should be with Meath. Quigley was solid in centre back. The pair in midfield were very strong, unsure of their names. Then inside Cullen was fantastic. They could be hard stopped.

Absolute disgrace having a u21 hurling championship final in baconstown . Few players from boardsmill/rathmoylan actually play football for na fianna so might aswell be home advantage for them. Bringing kilmessan/drumree through boardsmill when there's a perfectly good pitch in Trim especially for a final. You can argue that it's the b championship but after winning a few games to get to a final the younger lads should deserve a good day out in decent conditions. Whoever makes these decisions really have to look at themselves.
