Navan O'Mahonys v Gaeil Colmcille - A repeat of the league final - and possibly tie of the round. Kells are the form team and I am going to go with the form for this one!

St.Patricks v Dunshaughlin - A nice team building in Dunshaughlin with a good management team - Pats are struggling this year - Think Dunshaughlin will win this one.

Skyrne v Seneschalstown - I think this will be tight - Head says Skyrne but heart would like to see the Furze men - Think I'll go with the head! Skyrne

Longwood v Moynalvey - Could be a cracking game - Longwood really need a win but Moynalvey hold more cards - I think Moynalvey will win this one!

Ratoath v Summerhill - Believe Ratoath are still missing a host of lads - Summerhill are going well - I think the Hill Men will win this.

Rathkenny v Donaghmore/Ashbourne - Despite having the best player in the County (Keoghan), I think Ashbourne will react to their loss last day out and win this one with a bit to spare!

St.Colmcilles v Bhulf Tón CLG - Two different styles collide here - Cilles need a win after a slow start or could face a relegation play off! Tones need a win too if they want to make the knockout stages. I think if Cilles have their county men in they could cause a minor surprise here!

Curraha v Simonstown - Very hard to see beyond Simonstown in this one! The Ha will put up a decent fight though and it might be closer than most people think!

Dunboyne v Na Fianna - Na Fianna put their 100% record on the line against the Champions who lost to Tones last time out! Dunboyne seemed to be missing a fair few of last years starting team earlier this year - but hearing they are back. Certainly Donal Lenihan is. I think Dunboyne will take this - just!

O'Mahonys V Kells. O Mahonys are actually really good going forward but there perseverance going man to man at the back against the top sides is costing them dearly at the back. If they drop more defenders and keep the threat going forward they can beat Kells because Kells concede plenty. Hard to see past Kells, but if management change so might the result. Its O'Mahonys for me.

St Pats V Dunshaughlin. Dunshaughlin have gambled with youth. They lost to Kells and have beaten Seneschalstown. This is not the toughest of Groups in the sense they can beat the St Pats and give themselves a chance of going further if they beat Skyrne or O'Mahonys. I dont think they are far enough down the road to beat the latter two but they can take out St Pats at the weekend. However its youth V a hardened St Pats team who always have a sting for a team every year in the championship. Have Dunshaughlin progressed. Not if they cant beat the Pats, yes if they do. I still back Dunshaughlin to win, just

Skyrne V Seneschalstown. If Skyrne play right up to form like they did against O'Mahonys, they will beat Seneschalstown by double scores, its that simple. Was really impressed with Scrin . Scrin win

Longwood v Moynalvey. Moynalvey will beat Longwood end of story. Full out Moynalvey are good outfit. Longwood wont be with 10 points of them

Ratoath V Summerhill. Summerhill will win this. Be too strong for Ratoath. Too hardened and Ratoath at a cross roads in my view. Yes they top the group having beaten a very very poor Longwood side and a poor Don/Ash side. This is not a the toughest group and if they beat Moynalvey they will probably be in poll position to qualify but thats a big if. They wont be on 6 points after they play Summerhill after this weekend. Summerhill to win

Rathkenny/Donaghmore/Ashbourne. Rathkenny always take work to beat them. Rathkenny have beaten Longwood but cant see them beating Don/Ash albeit I dont rate Don/Ash who got themselves in poll position by shocking Summerhill only to lose to Ratoath in Round 2. They will beat Rathkenny so its Don/Ash for me.

St Colmcilles V Wolfe Tones St Colmcilles won this game last year. They know how to setup to beat the Tones so the Tones will know that. This is tight to call. I think Tones key players are getting on, and are susceptible at the back to pace. Young Conlon and Brennan will test that. However Cilles are also not the greatest at the back either, so its whatever forward line is on form will win. Have feeling Tones still have more physicality and bigger scoring threat and could win this . Tones to win just

Curraha v Simonstown Curraha played really well against Na Fianna. In many respects the ref saved Na Fianna the last day. They have a good free taker in young O'Connor and he can make Simonstown pay on frees. McEntee is also a threat if in the mood. However you have to fancy Simonstown who are going to have Tobin, Gallagher and Squealer all back. Curraha will put it up to them for a bit , are good team but if Simonstown get into full stride they will win

Dunboyne v Na Fianna

Its a big week for Dunboyne. Na Fianna cant put this up to them and have them looking down the barrel of being knocked out in the Group stages given Dunboyne have lost one game already and have Simonstown to play in the last game and they wont fancy that. So Dunboyne are under real pressure this weekend. This is big game of the weekend. Na Fianna it could be said beat the easier of the teams in this group in R1 and R2 in Curraha ( just about) and beat St Colmcilles in another tight affair. The next 3 Rounds are the big test. Whilst Na Fianna can really put this up to Dunboyne something tells me Na Fianna have been lucky to date and Dunboyne on form should find them out. But Dunboyne have to step up on all their form to date recently to win. Na Fianna can win but its the Champions to get their season back on track. Dunboyne win

Navan O'Mahonys v Gaeil Colmcille - Kells men to take by 4
St.Patricks v Dunshaughlin - Dunshaughlin against a poor Pats, only one way for me. Dunsh by 8+
Skyrne v Seneschalstown - Very hard to call, but Skyrne by the minimum
Longwood v Moynalvey - Moynalvey, think Sullivan could cause chaos for the longwood defense
Ratoath v Summerhill - Summerhill going well- win by 6
Rathkenny v Donaghmore/Ashbourne - Ashbourne need to bounce back, D/A by 5
St.Colmcilles v Bhulf Tón CLG - Tones by 6
Curraha v Simonstown - The Navan side shouldn't need to strecth themselves too much here, 8+
Dunboyne v Na Fianna - Very tough to call but I'm going with the Champions. Think they have the backs to cope with Walsh and Devine.

Could this be 1 of the most exciting races for the keegan cup yet? What a championship we have in store dunboyne, simonstown, summerhill and kells will surely be most peoples favourites but ratoath, o mahonys, ashbourne, tones, na fianna and to a lesser extent cilles and dunshaughlin will all fancy their chances and can cause plenty of problems for any team. Our championship is massively underrated as there is no corofin in meath but there are plenty of good teams and there will be some great matches over the coming months o cant quite pick a winner right now after the shadow boxing of early in the year

Navan O'Mahonys v Gaeil Colmcille - If the league final is anything to go by this one should be a cracker. Bray and O'Brien caused havoc in the full forward line in the 1st half while Beano and Reilly were dangerous all game for kells. both teams play basically 15 v 15 O'Mahonys play a real good traditional style of ball and will try and get the ball inside asap. Kells will also look to get it into Beano and Reilly whenever possible but crucially they are one of the best teams in the county through the hands with Mattimoe lethal running at defenders.
If NOM have learned from the league final and sure up the defence i would give them a great chance here. I feel though they will stick to there guns and we will have a shoot-out in bohermeen.
Kells to win

St.Patricks v Dunshaughlin - Havent seen Pats at all this year and only seen a little of Dunshauglin.
Pats are notorious for pulling off a shock every year (although a win here wouldnt be a seismic shock) . Dunshauglin are a very frustrating team in Meath you never really know what team will show up, Moyles seems to be doing a decent job with them , they're an atheltic team and there young forwards Mitchell and Costello should swing it their way.
Dunshauglin to win

Skyrne v Seneschalstown - Another tricky one to call, Skyrne had a poor league and dont seem to be the same team as last year but they were briliant when beating NOM in the 2nd round. Campion will be a massive addition and Battersby,Davis and O'Rourke are all good forwards while Harry Rooney is a beast in the middle of the park.
Senechelstown should be confident after winning div 2. They have some top quality young players coming through in Hickey,Finnegan and Keating. If Big joe is fit and firing we could have a real game here.
Wouldnt majorly shocked to see the furze men win here and think there massively priced with bookies.
I'll tentatively go for a Skyrne win

Longwood v Moynalvey - Longwood done brilliant to get up to senior but realistically they're one of poorest teams at this level in a long time. Moynalvey with there full compliment are a very decent team.
Moynalvey to win easy.

Ratoath v Summerhill - Ratoath had a goog win over Don/Ash the last day out and should qualify out of this group. they have undoubted talent but as yet havent delivered at senior level. McGill and McMahon are two class acts and will add a lot to the team.
Without trying to run Ratoath down Summerhill seem to be the opposite of them, a small rural village who continuously get the most out of themselves. After losing two keegan finals in a row they easily could have crumbled but with McCabe back in charge they look as good as ever so far apart from there poor result against ashbourne in the championship opener. The two Ryan brothers and Dardis will be big additions from here on in.
Can't see anything other than a Summerhill win.

Rathkenny v Donaghmore/Ashbourne - The Raths have admirably stayed senior under real pressure the last few years.
Keoghan is the best player in the county but theres only so much one man can do. Keith Curtis looks to be a good young forward who can score, which he will need to do.
Ashbourne looked impressive in the 1st round when completely out playing summerhill, Menton is class and the mcgoverns are two good players. they will be hurting after a disapointing loss against ratoath last time out.
Can only see a convincing Don/Ash win

St.Colmcilles v Bhulf Tón CLG - Another close one here Cilles nearly beat simonstown last time out and need a win here. Tones had a great win against Dunboyne and are another great honest rural club. When they are at there best they're a handful for anyone.
Tones to win

Curraha v Simonstown - Curraha seem to be a lot better than last year while simonstown havent hit form yet.
Moriarity,Toner,Shortall and McEntee all good players for curraha.
Simonstown werent great against cilles and were lucky to get over the line. Had a decent league but were well bet against Summerhill in the feis cup last week. Gallagher,Kane and Tobin are massive boosts though and if McKeever is in top form then its hard to look past the north Navan men.
Simonstown win.

Dunboyne v Na Fianna - Dunboyne havent hit the same heights as last year yet but time is still on their side. Na Fianna were impressive 1st round against cilles but were apparently lucky against curraha. Rafferty is a good young defender while obviously Devine and Walsh are big threats going forward.
Dunboyne are the champions and if they hit form there still the team to beat. Lavin is the top man marker in the county, McCoy has improved too and should stand out at club level. Shane McEntee has aslways impressed for Dunboyne, while McCarthy has been putting up massive scores the last few years add to that the return of Lenihan and you've got a lethal inside line. Dunboyne need a win here or the pressure is really on. I think they will rise to the occasion and get over a stern Na Fianna test.
Dunboyne to win.

Navan O'Mahonys v Gaeil Colmcille - Kells have beaten their opponents 3 times this year and I think they will make it a 4th tomorrow night. I think NOM will have to make a change to the way the play to try and get a result. Think it will be a close game but just think Kells will edge it.

St.Patricks v Dunshaughlin -Think this will be another close one. Dunshaughlin were good against Kells in the first round and really should have been a game they got something out of and then struggled against Seneschalstown. I'll go for Dunshaughlin but wouldn't be shocked if the Pats won.

Skyrne v Seneschalstown - Skryne had a hell of game against NOM in the 2nd round but NOM really didn't deal with PO'R. I think if Seneschalstown can mark PO'R better they will have a good chance in this game. I would imagine Niall Hickey will man mark Campion and if Keating and Cathal Finnegan play well I can see them winning by 1 or 2.

Longwood v Moynalvey - Was v impressed with Moynalvey against Rathkenny and then put in a good performance against Summerhill. Think Moynalvey by 4+

Ratoath v Summerhill - Summerhill will be without a few because of injuries but still think they should beat Ratoath. Rumour is Ratoath will be without one their county players because of injury.

Rathkenny v Donaghmore/Ashbourne - Rathkenny looked poor in the few games I have seen them this year. Could be in real trouble of relegation. Don/Ash should win comfortably

St.Colmcilles v Bhulf Tón CLG - Will be an interesting game. Tones will have learned from last year when they let Conlon run amuck. With a forwards such as Biggy, Brennan and Conlon it's hard to imagine them losing but their backs are weak so I think Tones will win.

Curraha v Simonstown - Simonstown should win this easily enough. Had a bit of a strange starting team and subs vs Summerhill in the Feis Cup though.

Dunboyne v Na Fianna - Should be a cracker. Think Na Fianna will edge this.

Seneschalstown looked decent last night. They marshaled Campion extremely and aren't as reliant on Joe and Brian as previous years. Might make a quarter final but that's about it.
One thing that I kept thinking what would Rooney and O Rourke add to the Meath setup, neither looked impressive last night.

PO'R in the goals maybe but defo not out the field. And anyone hoping Harry Rooney would solve our mid field crisis will be disappointed, was very poor last night against two lads well in their thirties. Shane McEntee offers a lot more.

Was at the second half of Ratoath Shill and the Dunboyne NAF game. E Wallace came on for Ratoath. Didn't do anything from play really and his penalty was lucky. Ahern, D McGowan didn't do much. Summerhill didn't really play well either. Na Fianna very reliant on Walsh who in fairness was getting the better of Lavin in the first 15 mins but when the supply dried up they didn't have many other options. Lenihan wasn't great for Dunboyne so for both Lenihan and Wallace. They need to up their club form if they want inclusion back into the Meath panel. McCarthy was absolutely brilliant for Dunboyne and they'd have been lost without him. Keeps them alive in the championship

Yeah I agree Na fianna very reliant on Walsh but must be said he had lavin under serious pressure only for Dunboyne to drop a man back and double mark him . Was great to see Harry silke play well i remember him at minor he was unstoppable at that age . They also have Dan Queeney to come back think someone said last night he's been out injured for the year but should be back now .

On a side note how good is McCarthy , he marked 3 I think of Na fiannas defenders throughout the game and still scored , it's almost like he bends the ball around players to score , great to watch his scores all Magnificent.
Dunboyne were under pressure for a lot of the game but they won and are heading into champ on form at the right time .
As for na fianna I see them beating simonstown esp when they get Both Queeney's on the pitch and with silke Walsh Downey and Devine in attack .

Do you just go to games to pick out better players and criticize them. Do you hope to be lucky enough to find lads coming back from injury or coming back from absence and only on for a few minutes. Eamon Wallace was only on for the last 5 minutes for whatever reason.

Just giving people info on the form which has relevance to our county team. Many people on the forum said they would like Eamon Wallace back. So I think it's useful to let them know that he is a long way off that yet. Wouldn't you? I attend club games to support my clubs or if I go as a neutral then to see if any lads are putting their hands up for a Meath call up or to see how young lads who I've played against are getting on

Not true. Any info you are giving people is totally incorrect as anyone who was at the match will know. Eamon Wallace was only out for 5 Minutes so nothing to go on.
So as well as go to games to criticize teams best players you also go on forums to tell lies about them. Are you afraid up and coming players will play well ?

This is laughable. 1. The fact Eamon Wallace came on and only played 5-10 mins is a sign that he has a long way to go before he's back on the Meath panel. 2. Afraid of up and coming players?. In my last post I said I go to neutral games specifically to watch young players. That's why I had my eye on Ahern and D McGowan. It's why i was pleased to see Gavin McGowan play well, why i was pleased for Meath to see Shane Walsh playing so well on Lavin early on. It's why Cian Flynn's kickouts and Sean Ryan's ability to get out in front impressed me. It's also why Connell Ahern not getting on much ball didn't impress me. Daithi McGowan and Liam Byrne not winning many/any kickouts didn't impress me. Clearly a very upset Ratoath man this morning. And to be fair so would I if my team passed the ball straight to the other teams centre forward when up 2 in injury time

Was at the cilles v tones match, cilles keeper beakey look good, good length on his kickout's,made a couple of saves and kicked two long range frees over. Brennan was quiet(probably not fully fit yet)biggy kicked a couple of nice scores but didn't stand out and Conlon done well when the ball came in but was living off scraps (although the lad on him done well).cian ward looks fitter now then when he played with Meath kicked a few beauty's from way out and wanted the ball all the time,Thomas o Reilly moving well too and I think it's his brother number six had a good game as well.Cilles were unlucky got a man sent off(harshly in my opinion)a yellow at most and the tones second goal could have easily been a free out, that been said they were lucky that one of there half forwards wasn't sent off.tones probably just shaded it,the extra man made it safe in the end.
