Replying To Meath_True:  "Royal , I'm going to have to stop you there , the limited success you have pointed out ( for GG) has equally been balanced with the lack of success as well . Why is GG not managing the Louth team that he started the season off with this year ?. And why did he leave ..... Be very careful who you want to entrust our future players with . Excellent soldiers do not always make excellent Generals"
I thought you wanted to park the GG discussion?

Congratulations to Joe Treanor's team on a great achievement."
Totally agree with you! Joe Treanor has done a great job with this group. He has had some very good players to work with but has moulded them into a team - good luck to him and his squad in the all ireland phase
I don't know joes background - but it appears that he is proof that you don't have to have won an all ireland to be a successful manager!

You are correct Aloblack , unfortunately some times I can't help myself when I read some of the pink coloured spectacle folks go on . Well done to this years Leinster Minor Champions Onwards and upwards . A dedicated management team that wasn't parachuted in ..... That know the players and their strength and weakness , is 100 miles better than one that gets the gig , because they are in the clique .... Well done Joe , Paul , Paddy , Owen ........ Lets go one step further than last year .

Replying To Aloblack:  "Educate me too please . Getting Duleek to a 1/4 final of the senior championship is a decent achievement but hardly a reason to be giving him one of the 3 main jobs in the county... don't recall him doing a whole lot more before or since then. From what I heard his latest coaching or managing job in Louth hasn't ended too well."
Brought south Westmeath club to senior quarter finals. A feat not achieved too often with that club,
He hasn't had the players like others have had. Put him in charge of a sumonstown or similar and see what he does. What he did with the players at both duleek and Westmeath was akin to someone bringing a Carlow Waterford to all ire quarters. To say otherwise would be to seriously underestimate the achievement, we gave mod the senior job after a great skrne team ffs. It's all about managing the hand your dealt with.

Replying To Aloblack:  "Thats exactly what you did . U criticized them for only winning by 8 instead of 16 and for easing up the last 20 minutes. The game was won and they've an All Ireland 1/4 final next weekend so of course their gonna ease up. No use beating Kildare by 16 points if it meant we lost 1 or 2 lads to injury for next weekend because they were flying into 50/50 tackles They really didn't need to be flying into. A bit of common sense there fella."
So because a team wins a title there's no improving in that team? Glad your not in charge of the youngsters! And yes of course there's a point in beating a team( and in fact your rivals) by 16 points rather than 8 it sends out a message as well as putting football out of these kildare players minds. But anyhow I won't allow you to suck me in and make it look like I was being overly critical of this young team I was the very first poster to congratulate them. I see you attacked 2 or 3 more posters on their views on this thread over the weekend what's really the matter fella?

Absolutely spot on and as you were saying hopefully this is the start of something special . 2 u17 Leinster titles in a row is a great achievement and the management of both groups should be commended for all the time effort and commitment they've put in as should the players and their parents.

Indeed. Shouldn't be taken over by other comments.
It's all about the minors and their great achievement. No more comments from me on gg.

Of there is improvement but u weren't even at the game and ur spouting nonsense about them not being ruthless. Trust me they were more than ruthless and how ur disappointed they didn't win by 16 points.. Them winning by 16 sends out a msg... Lol. Do you honestly think them winning by 16 points as opposed to 8 will make any difference to the result this weekend or if please god they get over Derry.. I think u need to stop reading the big book of Sporting Cliches there. And winning by 16 would put football out of the Kildare players minds... I'm not even sure where to start on that it's so ridiculous. What does that even mean? If we had won by 16 half the Kildare would have hung up their boots and never played again?

What a great period we could have at underage in the next few years, last years 17's, this years minors looking good, with Joe doing a great job assisted by Paddy, the 2 Paul's & Owen, Under 16's coming along nicely under Conor and his team, and aurguably an even more promising under 15's coming behind under John McCarty and a really good backroom team. Let the management of each team move up along to Minor with each team. Absolutely be called in each year for a review and be offered assistance if it is felt there are areas which could do with improvement. Sometimes it's good to freshen things up a little even if things are going well, But it would be a very bad idea now that we finally get a good underage structure in place, to then go and make a dogs dinner of it and start parachuting in big name personality managers would be utter madness.
If these big names want to help, that would be great, have them come in at the under 14 development team stage like everyone else and stay involved with that team up to Minor.

Ahh no. I will keep going if you wish. Come on lad you have proven yourself time and again to be very limited in your knowledge regarding certain things. Here's one for you, without google what club did gg bring to quarter finals. ??? Come on. I can keep going all day on the merits of gg. Bring it on

Well I'll be honest and say I have no idea what westmeath club he brought to the 1/4 finals and while I'll fully acknowledge that bringing a small unfancied team to a 1/4 final is a good achievement it's certainly not reason enough to give him the under age county job of his choice or any for that matter. Ur point on seeing how he would do if he was in charge of a big club like simonstown is all ifs and buts unfortunately. Maybe if he got a job like simonstown or Rataoth or Dunboyne or Tones and did well if would be a different story . Again someone pointed out his latest job in Louth ended halfway thru the year. Any idea why that happened ? Obviously wasn't going well. Also coming out with vague and hard to prove statements like "he's credited with instilling steel into the Longford players that beat us this year" credited by who ? And when did he finish with Longford ? I'm open to correction on this but think it was at least 4 years . So he instilled steel into the Longford players and 4 years later they beat meath.. ur reaching a bit there I feel. What about the managers and coaches who have worked with Longford since he left? I'm not saying Graham doesn't have the potential to be a good manager at the top level perhaps he does but he should have to do his time like everyone else and just be allowed to handpick what job he wants because he was our best ever player. The likes of Sherlock dessie farrell and these guys worked with the Dublin under age from u13 up all the way thru to minor and u21 so how about he goes in with our 13s or 14s as a coach and let him work his thru.

Castledaly i believe. We should open up applications to anyone involved in a team that has gotten to knockout stage in louth , Meath or Westmeath in past 5 years. You have made a clown of yourself with your undying love for Andy mc so as i said before, get rid of that shovel

Great achievement from this talented group to go on and win Leinster and let's be honest, they did it fairly comfortably. Derry on Saturday will be tough, they beat a fancied Tyrone team and lost narrowly to Monaghan who could mount an All -Ireland challenge.
This Meath team are capable of beating Derry though, the concern I would have, is the fact that it's only one week after their title win. If they can put that in the back pocket for now and focus on Derry, this team could well go all the way. So huge game this weekend and the best of luck to them.

That has to be manager job. Must keep them fully focused. Monaghan are fancied for all ire , so Derry won't be any push overs.

Another great win for this talented bunch, got a bit close for comfort as game went on, but lads showed real fighting spirit to see Meath over the line
