SHC: Kilmessan bridge 13 year gap

Despite losing their first game in the group results elsewhere went in Kilmessan’s favour and they qualified for their first senior hurling championship final since 2013.

Seanie Doyle and Lorcan Byrne gave Kilmessan a good start. Despite conceding two goals Kilmessan led 1-13 to 2-8 at the break, Jack Cottrell with the goal.

Early second half points from Kevin Keena (2), Doyle and Daragh Horan put Kilmessan in control and six points to the good. Evan Fitzgerald brought Kildalkey back into the game and the sides were level until Nicky Potterton sent over the winner before the full time whistle.

Kilmessan take on Ratoath or Kiltale in the final.
