SHC B: Strong second half seals semi final spot for Dunderry

Dunderry 2 -22 Killyon 1-18

Kildalkey was the venue for this last group game of the Senior B  hurling championship. 

Killyon open the scoring from play quickly cancled out by a fine point from Crinion. Four in a row for Killyon including one free saw them lay down a marker. Adam Kelly temporarily stopped the rut with a fine point from play. Killyons dominance continued however,  firstly with a smashing sideline cut , then a brace from play, then two frees to leave eight between the sides. Ciarán O Brien was charged with the frees and he banged over two in a row before Killyon respond from play. 

A goal chance from Jamie Leavy was well saved but O Brien was on hand to strike the 65 over. He was fouled himself next and slotted over that as well. The green and red pointed once more keeping six the difference. Cathal Barron struck a fine sideline cut into the hand of Crinion who finished the scoring the he himself started for the opening half.

 After Killyon dominating the half the Dunderry were still well in the game only five behind at the interval.

Killyon started with a point before Dunderry came to life with a bang.  Barron did the usual big paw in the clouds, came down with the sliothar,  got it to the bandaged up Jamie Leavy who passed out to the man from the stoney road Harry Crinion. A quick look into the goal mouth and Bang -back of the net. Game on now. 

The next play saw the ever 'getting back up to the pace'  Luke Martyn pulled down once again and up stood O Brien to reduce the deficit to two.

The sides traded frees, Lukey fouled for our one. Kelly was taken down on the the road to goal yet again. Bring over O'Brien for another. Killyon come back with another from play and stretched their lead out to three. It's anyone's game now. 

A super hit from Robinstowns finest TJ Loughran saw the ball over turned and when Kelly rifiled it over the bar from 70 yds it a big swing in favour of the Black and Whites.

Killyon pointed once more from a free before Timber Leavys men took complete control.  

A 65 from O Brien first.  An intersection by O Leary from Lambay and a fine forward pass to his near neighbour Crinnion reduced the gap to one. A peach of a point from Barron  leveled it. Another O Brien free after Lukey was dragged back saw us take the lead for the first time at a crucial time. Killyon were starting to get wasteful now and when Fagans puc out reached O Brien he quickly passed to Martyn from Meadstown for his first of the day. Two from Killyon either side of an O Brien beauty from play , thanks to a fine sideline cut from Darragh Fay.

 Things going well for Dunderry and when Jamie Leavy collected a throw in-he off loaded to the other Jamie (Duffy) who pointed with ease.

Killyon bring themselves right back into it however with a goal and now they lead by one. Dunderry dug deep though and Kelly was fisrt up to level it once more. Three O Brien frees and another from play from  Luke Martyn after he collected his own puc out had his team four to the good and not looking like relinquishing their hard fought lead. 

The last play saw yet another dinger of a puck out from Fagan. Another leap to the heavens from Barron. Another run off the shoulder by Kelly. Another Goal. Brilliant. 

Nearly as good as Ben Feeneys in the junior win in Longwood midweek.
