The Meath football championship gets up and running on Thursday.

The senior championship starts with Group A. Pitch 6 at Dunganny plays host to what should be a cracking game of football. Keegan Cup holders Summerhill take on Kilbride, a battle between last year’s SFC and IFC winners and this year’s Division 1 and Division 3 FL champions.

Over in Dunsany Rathkenny take on Dunboyne. Both sides have struggled in this year’s league. St. Peters finished mid table in Division 1 while Rathkenny were relegated to Division 3.

Group A of the Junior B championship also gets underway. Boardsmill will be keen to make up for their Division 6 FL final loss to Summerhill after extra time when they open their account against Clonard. Group favourites Cortown take on Eastern Gaels. These two met at the same stage last year and Cortown ran out easy winners.
