The late Kathleen Clarke

St. Michaels GFC are profoundly saddened to learn of and share with you the news of the passing of our executive committee member and former club secretary Kathleen Clarke on Wednesday May 13th after her short fight against illness, fought with the resilience and bravery only she could do.

A proud St. Michaels woman Kathleen gave tremendous dedication to her club. She was always willing to help out but never as quick to take praise. Her loss will most especially be felt by her loving & devoted family who afforded her the opportunity to share so much of her time with us in our Club.

Kathleen was a dedicated, loyal, ferocious club person and she bore her short illness with strength and courage against all the odds and that is no surprise to all that knew her.

Her dedication to our club was enormous, from secretary, to county delegate, lotto seller, general fundraiser, ticket seller, County Euro Millions seller, and it was only last year that she organised a fundraiser for the local Nobber Cancer Care Group to show her appreciation for their help for a close family member, but most of all Kathleen was a club person in the essence of the word, who dedicated her time within the club to democracy and fair play, the true meaning of the word “club person”.

Our club family has not only lost a brilliant friend and a devout servant, but the greatest loss is that to her family, and to them, we can only offer our deepest, heartfelt sympathies. We thank you for sharing Kathleen’s time with us, helping us make St. Michaels the club that it is today. She has left an indelible mark on the past and helped carve the path for the future of this club, we cannot be thankful enough.

We hope that in the very sad coming days, weeks and years, you will smile when you think of Kathleen and everything she has done for her club and community. A wonderful person, we will all miss her greatly.

Kathleen's two sons Shane and Patrick have played with St. Michaels from nursery level to Intermediate level and both Kathleen and her husband John could always be seen outside the fence supporting their sons and club on the field of play and they also traveled the length and breadth of the country following the Royals, she was a proud Meath supporter.

As a club, a family and a community we extend our condolences to Kathleen's dear husband John, sons Shane (Nicola) and Patrick (Katie), brothers Aidan & Michael, extended Clarke & Murtagh families, her friends and her many club & county GAA colleagues we extend to each of you our deepest and most heartfelt condolences. In your time of sorrow and grief we want you to know how valued, respected and loved Kathleen was to all her friends and colleagues in St. Michaels GFC. She enriched our lives so sadness and gratitude are the balanced emotions we all feel at this sad time.
May your gentle soul rest in peace Kathleen.
