St Peter's, Dunboyne...0-06 Dunshaughlin...2-07
Goals either side of half time were ultimately the deciding factor as the Mooney Cup holders made it a Friday the 13th to forget for their neighbours as Richie Kealy's team got their title defence away to a winning start on their home turf.
The visitors competed well in the first half, and though the eventual winners got their first 'major' on the call of half time, there were still only two points separating the sides, 1-04 to 0-05, when David Gough began the second 30 minutes.
Scores were at an even greater premium in the second half but once the locals raised a second green flag Dunboyne never looked like pegging them back. The result means that when the latter tackle Trim at home next week for the second time in a month, they will still be looking for their first win of the season.
