FL Div 4: Nobber leave Moynalty disappointed

March 16, 2026

Nobber's Paul Meade

Nobber 2 – 11 (17) Moynalty 1 – 15 (18)

Nobber began their 2026 A League Division 4 campaign on Sunday morning last with a decent performance but ultimately left Moynalty disappointed having lost by the minimum in the end. The black and ambers started brightly with corner forward Dale Larkin kicking a free to get Sean Carolans’ charges off the mark. Wing forward Conor Owens rattled the Moynalty net after 8 minutes with a fine finish. Shortly after the Nobber men showed great teamwork and worked a fine move ending with midfielder Paul Meade assisting his younger brother Sean who finished brilliantly to the back of the net.

Moynalty had the aid of a big breeze shooting into the clubhouse end of the ground and were successful with a number of two pointers to their own credit. Larkin concluded the scoring for the Deesiders in the first period with three more scores from placed balls.

Half-time score – Nobber 2 – 4 (10) Moynalty 0 – 8 (8)

The red and white of Moynalty were quickest off the mark in the second period and scored 1 – 1 without reply to put them into the lead. A fine free from Larkin raised an orange flag to make the sides level in the third quarter. Very little separated the sides leading into the final quarter of the game. There was a fine midfield battle between the Moynalty duo and the experienced Paul Meade and strong Mark Condra of Nobber. Niall Farrell kicked a fine two pointer to the joy of the travelling Nobber support. Leading into the final few minutes the black and ambers held a two-point lead thanks to classy scores from centre forward Sean Meade. It looked like the Deesiders were going to hold out for the win, however Moynalty had other ideas.

Moynalty registered three scores without reply at the end of the game and ensured the victory with a free with the final kick of the game. Nobber defensively were under pressure in the final few minutes from the Moynalty attack. A game that could have went either way with tricky weather conditions for both sides. Nobber will hope to regroup and be ready for their second-round fixture next weekend.

Next up for Nobber is a home game against Ballinlough on Sunday, March 22 at 11 AM in Round 2 of the league.
