Meath county committee chairman John Kavanagh is stepping down from the top post following a four year stint and will not be seeking re-election at the forthcoming convention in December.
The Ultan’s club man made the announcement at last night’s county board meeting in Dunganny. He said he wouldn’t be seeking a nomination for any position at convention and asked clubs to be aware of that when filling in nomination forms.
Kavanagh was acting chairman for a number of months following the shock resignation of Peter O’Halloran and was elected to the top post at convention in December 2019, securing the position ahead of two other candidates.
He was returned unopposed at the county’s first ever online convention the following year and again in 2021, and in December 2022 he commenced his fourth year in the top position.
This year’s convention takes place in O’Mahonys GAA Centre on Monday night December 11th.
