Tipp motion aims to crackdown on thrown handpasses in hurling

A motion to eliminate the thrown handpass from hurling will be tabled at the Tipperary county convention on Sunday.

Nenagh Éire Óg want to make it a foul to “either handpass the ball or palm the ball directly from the same hand that is holding the ball”. The proposal is being driven by 1989 Tipperary All-Ireland winning full back Conor O'Donovan, who has been outspoken on the matter.

The motion is as follows:

"In order to definitively eliminate ball throwing from the sport of hurling, Nenagh Éire Óg GAA Club put forward a motion to Tipperary County GAA Board Convention, to be voted on in Congress, for the introduction of an addition Technical Foul - Rule 4.2(c). The wording of rule 4.2(c) will state that it is a foul: to either hand-pass the ball or palm the ball directly from the same hand that is holding the ball."
